I took the first photo on 8th April and forgot to post it, the other two are from this evening, how things move on in the space of a fortnight. #fairviewyearround #fairviewverge
Fritillaria pallidiflora and F.acmopetala in the garden. #fairviewyearround
The first of the replacement double arches finished today. Two more to do. #fairviewyearround
A shady corner. #fairviewyearround
A couple of Pacific Coast irises flowering in the greenhouse at College where they have been over-wintering. #fairviewyearround
The green roof on the log shed is mostly pulsatillas, different colour forms of P.vulgaris and a single P.alpina at the moment. Also dwarf irises starting to flower, 24 buds on this Iris suaveolens Helvolus Group. #fairviewyearround
Leucojum aestivum, L.aestivum ‘Bridesmaid’ and L.pulchellum, all around the pond. #fairviewyearround
One of the prettiest 'borrowed views' in the garden is that of my neighbours Magnolia soulangeana. Every time the property is sold I worry that it will get chopped down and it has come close on occasion, usually when the flowers get caught by a late frost. #fairviewyearround
Woodcocks can no longer be shot in Poland. Evidence & pressure from ornithologists/NGOs resulted in full protection for Woodcocks and 4 other species.
Long overdue in Britain too, to conserve UK-breeding Woodcocks... and the migrants coming from/through Poland.

A few woodland treasures, Hepatica ‘Hazelwood Froggie’, Corydalis temulifolia 'Chocolate Stars', Corydalis kusnetzovii x solida ‘Domino’ and a Trillium chloropetalum seedling. #fairviewyearround
Scilla x rosiba (S.rosenii x S.siberica) in the alpine house. #fairviewyearround
Epimedium x perralchicum 'Frohnleiten’ growing amongst the hellebores. #fairviewyearround
It’s very much a marmite building architecturally. Hardly any plants inside and I imagine it cost a fortune.
I have to say that the Davies Alpine House is a massive carbuncle, neither use nor ornament.
Erythronium tuolumnense 'Spindlestone' in a woodland border. #fairviewyearround
Check out the paper by @bsbiscience.bsky.social & Paul Cook (RHS) on Waterborne spread of introduced plants from a large ornamental garden in northern England, UK:

It's in #BritishandIrishBotany, our #OpenAccess online journal, free & easy for you to access!
Not an April fool, but the last snowdrop to flower here, a very late form of Galanthus ikariae. #fairviewyearround
Caltha ‘Moonlight’, a cross between Caltha leptosepala and C.palustris var. palustris (C.polypetala) from Rumbling Bridge Nursery in Kinross. I would love to grow the orange/red flowered C.palustris var. barthei again, does anyone grow it. #fairviewyearround
The roadside verge is just entering its next phase as the daffodils start to fade. #fairviewyearround #fairviewverge
The colony of Erythronium revolutum in the woodland borders, mostly from the prolifically seeding Knightshayes strain. Seedlings are now appearing in the steps. The darker forms tend to bulk up more slowly. #fairviewyearround
Some primroses in the garden. #fairviewyearround
