Not an April fool, but the last snowdrop to flower here, a very late form of Galanthus ikariae. #fairviewyearround

Caltha ‘Moonlight’, a cross between Caltha leptosepala and C.palustris var. palustris (C.polypetala) from Rumbling Bridge Nursery in Kinross. I would love to grow the orange/red flowered C.palustris var. barthei again, does anyone grow it. #fairviewyearround

The colony of Erythronium revolutum in the woodland borders, mostly from the prolifically seeding Knightshayes strain. Seedlings are now appearing in the steps. The darker forms tend to bulk up more slowly. #fairviewyearround

I’ve just set a new Facebook page for anyone interested in old-fashioned primroses. They seem to be increasingly difficult to find for sale and so hopefully this will be one way of encouraging people to exchange plants. #fairviewyearround

What goes in determines what comes out. The garden compost is proving useful in the refurbishment of this raised bed that will be used for growing a wide variety of bulbs. #fairviewyearround

The lovely Cyclamen libanoticum, it has larger flowers and a better scent than the hybrid Cyclamen x wellensiekii, however the latter flowers for a very long time and is fertile, as the pot of seedlings demonstrate. #fairviewyearround

My tecophilaeas were badly damaged by the prolonged cold spells last winter. This year has been much milder, but the corms will take time to bulk up again. At least I have a few flowers. T. cyanocrocus, Leichtlinii and Violacea groups. #fairviewyearround

Scilla x allenii, is one of the loveliest of the squills. This is the clone going around as ‘Fra Angelico’, but I am told it is incorrect. #fairviewyearround

I bought this Corydalis leucanthema ‘Silver Spectre’ late last year and have kept it in the greenhouse so far. It is in full flower now, with a fabulous scent. The leaves aren’t too shoddy either, however on a small plant it can look a bit like mildew. #fairviewyearround
