No. It is broken.
Screenshot of tweet from the ARC saying they will announce DP26 outcomes on Tuesday 28th Oct, and LP25r1 outcomes on Wednesday 29th.
ARC says Discovery Projects outcomes will be tomorrow (Tuesday). Linkage Projects (2025, round 1) on Wed. Over past ~year, it's often been at about 11am (Canberra).
My bot will pick up the change to RMS & post immediately.
ARC should email outcomes to lead CIs, but might take an 1hr or so for DPs
Google Scholar has introduced a 'Sh-index' metric that scores papers higher if you are first or last author. Apart from the fact metrics are generally bad, this one explicitly punishes PIs who often collaborate, publishing with 2 or 3 equal PIs at the end of the list.

Gotta break up the truffle with something….
I finally wrote some basic documentation for OCC, including some nice (I think) interactive examples in the web browser using the virtual file system in WASM. Proof of concept for tutorials/teaching in the future I hope! getocc.xyz

A graph showing the process of single crystal diffraction analysis as a semicircle, starting from a crystal, and continuing with scattering data, Bragg intensities, average structure, and at the end average model.
Every now and then I might post important concepts on single crystal diffraction analysis from my recent review. Today, this wrapped-up version of figure 1 reminds us what we lose in the process, and what we actually gain at the end: a model 💎

A Nobel medal
BREAKING: The Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been awarded to Susumu Kitagawa, Richard Robson and Omar M. Yaghi “for the development of metal-organic frameworks”
Stay tuned for more.

No it is finally just #chemistry and #notbiology!
Been hoping for this for years!! Congratulations Robson, Yaghi, and Kitagawa- all founders of a field I'm very proud to be part of!! #OzChem
Fantastic to see one of my chemical heroes, Richard Robson, winning the Nobel Prize for coordination frameworks (MOFs), together with Kitagawa and Yaghi. #ozchem

Screenshot from ARC's PDF explaining some aspects of the EOI outcomes. Black text on white background with 5 bullet points providing the breakdown in the number of EOIs across the different assessment panels.
ARC has provided a bit of info about Discovery Projects EOI shortlisting process here ▶️ www.arc.gov.au/sites/defaul...
🔹27.7% success rate – 1127 shortlisted of 4063 EOIs
🔹43 EOIs with "disparate scores" were rescued
🔹All EOIs reviewed by 3 College of Experts assessors

Super exciting to have this finally out! It was great to have different fields coming together for this collaboration

Fortifications required….
OK #chemsky do your thing. I have an immediate PhD vacancy working on a MOF / crystallography / electron diffraction project with Syngenta. Home fees and stipend are covered. Spread the word!
