This sounds like a real-life Animal Crossing DLC
Last minute pivot to the Taw to spend a perfect afternoon with Pete casting to spring risers and finishing off birthday cake. All the while Monty, even at 70 (in human years), was spring loaded for the action. We ended up with 2 each, Pete landing the daddy of the bunch obvs.#flyfishing
Fly fishing was a bust, so I hit the pond yesterday morning. The first catch of 2026 was a beauty.
I wish I'd had my tape measure nearby. Probably not a PB, but likely among my top 5 chain pickerel.
The South Platte in Deckers is always freezing, even in summer, but the fly fishing is great. 🐠 I know, this emoji is not even close to looking like a trout!😀
Well I did Forget only time The President pissed off our friends!

The Appeal of Stillwater Fly-Fishing.
"The great thing about casting for Walter, is that you’ll never know if you really got him or not. Or you might know you haven’t, because you’re sure that was him that jumped and spat the hook near the net."

A high-contrast, black and white photograph featuring a person fly fishing in a river. The fisherman stands in the center of the frame, knee-deep in the water, seen from behind as they cast a thin, arched line over the rippling surface. The composition is split horizontally: the foreground consists of textured, tall grasses and reeds; the middle ground shows the shimmering water reflecting dark tones; and the background features a dark, densely wooded riverbank. On the far bank, a metal drainage grate is visible against the slope. The lighting is moody and dramatic, with deep shadows and bright highlights on the water's surface, giving the scene a serene but solitary atmosphere.

One of the craziest things about getting into fly fishing is watching YouTube videos where middle aged men say things like:
"In my top 5 you gotta have a Slick Willy, a cone-head Monica, and a black Sex Dungeon"
And not even giggle
First float trip, I’m hooked

Had some spare time after a turkey hunt, so we booked a 4 hour float down the San Juan, we caught so many browns and rainbows. Being from Louisiana, I've always used a spinner, fly fishing is so much fun. …
A slow paced outdoor experience. In this kind of natural environment, people can relax more easily
First ever #colorado cutthroat!
The reason this kind of experience is so addictive is that it satisfies both a sense of physical participation and psychological immersion. You are not just observing nature, but becoming part of its rhythm.
I click on fly fishing and camping gear ads to keep them coming. Social media, even the non-algorithmic kind, encourages people to present an unrealistic and upbeat view of their lives to the world. Multiply the effect a few thousand times a day and it's easy to think your life sucks in comparison.
i do wonder if having what is, i think, a pretty balanced view of the economy might have to something to do with the fact that i don’t use algorithmic social media much, and don’t use short form social video at all. like, the worst i usually get are ads for low budget knitwear
