Today's the day: #APS25DC kicks off in Washington, DC! @danielnault.bsky.social and I are representing the @dseclab.bsky.social and presenting new findings from our recent studies. Come say hi - we'd love to chat!
At the DSEC Lab, our research includes analyzing the acoustic characteristics of speech. 🗣️ Our speech contains important vocal cues, such as pitch, intensity, and speech rate. Watch the video below to learn more about pitch and how we analyze this in our research! (🖋️Sophie Ye)
I’ll also be presenting work showing how autistic and non-autistic youth differ in emotional and lexical prosody recognition skills during the same poster session on Thursday at 7:30pm. Stop by and nerd out about nonverbal behaviour with me! 😁 (2/2)
Looking forward to #APS25DC this week! I’ll be presenting work showing how youth modulate their vocal cues during emotional conversations with friends vs. caregivers in the Developmental Flash Talk Session on Thursday at 4pm, and during the poster session on Thursday at 7:30pm. (1/2)
The @srcdorg.bsky.social #SRCD2025 conference was a blast! Riley Bonar & @danielnault.bsky.social gave superb talks about their research, & Daniel chaired an excellent symposium. It was great to hear about exciting new work in the field, and to connect with so many colleagues & friends. 🙏
Our findings highlight how patterns of nonverbal behaviour differ between children and adults, are subject to developmental maturation during adolescence, and are shaped by culture and early adversity. Can't wait to see you there! 🙌 (2/2)
Headed to #SRCD2025 this week? 🥳 Come check out my symposium focused on the development of nonverbal behaviour on Saturday at 12:10 PM in RM 209AB. We show how experience shapes nonverbal behaviour in multiple nonverbal channels, and across multiple developmental stages. (1/2)
What a privilege it has been to work with such amazing, bright, and intellectually-curious undergraduate students. They have so much to be proud of! 👏
