This manuscript comes from one of the chapters of my dissertation, was the feature of my presentation at #SRCD2025, and was a fun collaboration with @luciamawe.bsky.social , Pooja Tandon, and Kate Foster. Thank you for all your support and involvement in this project! More to come! 9/9
Our PhD student @leakrumpholtz.bsky.social successfully presented her research at the #SRCD2025 Biennial Meeting in Minneapolis. 🇺🇸
We're so proud of you! 🤩

Daviona Cross stands by her research poster at a conference.
A green graphic with a quote attributed to Daviona Cross: “What I enjoyed most about this project is that it allowed me to work with a population that is incredibly important to me. I also got the chance to learn more about the work that is currently happening in the field, and I am happy to be involved in such meaningful work.”
Recent PSY graduate, Daviona Cross, presented at the Society for Research in Child Development meeting. Daviona & Dr. Alytia Levendosky looked at how discrimination moderates the effects of intimate partner violence on maternal-child outcomes using a subsample from the MSU Prenatal Study. #SRCD2025
Congratulations to Madelyn Yoo for presenting our scoping review, “Environmental Trigger Assessments and Interventions for Children with Asthma,” at the Society for Research in Child Development! This work will make a difference for kids and families. #SRCD2025 #AsthmaAwareness #ChildHealth
So proud of @stephaniemadd.bsky.social and all the work she has done!! #SRCD2025 #HARPlabUML #UMassLowell #psychology
Reunited with friends at #AERA2025 #SRCD2025 (Runzhi Chen from my time at UVA just defended at Illinois, @qiushan.bsky.social is finishing her first year as Asst Prof, Svetha Mohan is doing her dissertation at Tulane, and my fellow EdTerps are as usual being rockstars)
Late post of #SRCD2025 at Minneapolis, MN. Glad I’ve seen so many wonderful scholars and colleagues (past, present and future!) Also happy to share our work!
Last week I gave my 1st conference talk at #SRCD2025 in a symposium @elisemahaffey.bsky.social and I co-chaired together “The effort equation: Towards an integrative understanding of the factors that drive children’s adaptive persistence” with speakers @elainewang.bsky.social and Alexis Burke!
A new paper is out! 🚨
This study explored preschoolers’ hostile cognition and aggressive responses toward social excluders in Japan — the same work that we presented at #SRCD2025 just a few days ago.
Huge thanks to my supervisor, Yusuke Moriguchi!

#SRCD2025 recap: a data re-use story!
I've been exploring the "animacy effect" (we remember things that are alive more than inanimate objects). I realized Leslie Rollins "accidentally" collected neural data on this when we were in grad school together and we've been re-analyzing kid and adult ERPs.
Jen Clegg-Petz and I presented on cultural variation in first- and third-party imitation and attention. #SRCD2025
Finally sharing the posters I presented at #SRCD2025!
One is on caregiver-provider alliance and the other is looking at family functioning on child mental health among children with and without asthma!
✈️ I'm still recovering from jetlag but had a great time at #SRCD2025!
Thrilled about our symposium on cognitive control and statistical learning. @nemeth.bsky.social and Rachel Foster gave fantastic talks—Rachel did amazingly well for her 1st conference and will soon be on the job market!
Here’s what a 1st place poster looks like at the #SRCD2025 Black Caucus Poster Session💜🤪🎊
Think Lab members have made it back from #SRCD2025!
It's a lab tradition that after a conference, each person who attended shares a 2-3 minute overview of a poster or presentation they enjoyed. It's a great way to discuss all we learned.
Wishing I saw more of you there... but next time!
Children and Screens’ Senior Research Coordinator Daniel Hipp, PhD, chaired two paper symposiums at the #SRCD2025 Biennial Meeting. Children and Screens is pleased to have participated with @srcdorg.bsky.social and other leaders to support science for healthy #ChildDevelopment.
Did I plan for #SRCD2025 ahead of time? No. Did I make cute Canva pics to plug my presentations? Also no. Did I print a poster on site? Yes. Did I have a great time? Also yes.
Let’s start the recap with the lab alumni! All PhDing or Post-docing (docking?) in amazing dev labs across the land ♥️🤓
Congrats to Angela Martinez & Sydni Davila for their SRCD presentation "Examining Protective Factors in the Context of Familial and Economic Stressors in Rural Mexican Adolescents"! Their research highlights how resilience & family cohesion can buffer stress. Great work! #SRCD2025

The @srcdorg.bsky.social #SRCD2025 conference was a blast! Riley Bonar & @danielnault.bsky.social gave superb talks about their research, & Daniel chaired an excellent symposium. It was great to hear about exciting new work in the field, and to connect with so many colleagues & friends. 🙏
One of the best parts of #SRCD2025 was catching up with friends and colleagues! Some that I haven’t seen in-person for so long! All of which are doing amazing things!
Just finished #SRCD2025 and this is a horrible idea based on the great research there on kids and AI.
First, kids think AI has human like thinking capacity, except emotions. It doesn’t!
Two, until 10, kids believe AI even when it provides answers to unknowable questions.
Slow down!
Thread #2 @srcdorg.bsky.social #SRCD2025. Talk by @brandonmwoo.bsky.social: children think that people who are socially close better know one another's mental states, and that when people correctly guess mental states they are socially closer. tinyurl.com/wdr9ajmx
That's a wrap for Minneapolis and #SRCD2025. It was a fun few days of learning new research, seeing friends, and leaving with new ideas! They also have some great coffee shops!
Had the best time with the @heartsandmindslab.bsky.social! Leaving #SRCD2025 feeling refreshed and full of new ideas!
This was one of the things that made me glad I attended #SRCD2025
wonderful time with great colleagues (new and old) at #SRCD2025. Thankful for everyone practicing joy as resistance and speaking truth to power right now.
If anyone attending #SRCD2025 happened to find a small silver and turquoise ring at the conference center, please let me know. It belonged to my late mother-in-law and has a lot of sentimental significance. @srcdorg.bsky.social
