I thoroughly tested U1. Apart from the included models, I also printed a bunch of miniatures for keychains from 3D scans. Scaled-down DeathRacer and RC Boats miniatures printed surprisingly well. Great printer for this kind of work.

Finally, the weather cooperated, and we had a great day out with Teddy 🐶🐾 and gave PollyFab’s 3D printed shoes a proper test along the way.

Pretty impressed with the choice of test models included. Could not stop printing one after another. Might give some clues on how to slice my own models. Featured models:

What is scarier than a DeathRacer? A Battle Hardened DeathRacer! This one became a real hero across a few guides and made it onto Sketchfab. Einstar Rockit did a great job capturing the punches and bruises on this beast. Hands-on: 3dwithus.com/einstar-rock... #3dscanning
I hope this project goes well, as it could be a good start for wider 3D prints/plastics recycling at home. I have three boxes of unused prints. Turning them into reusable material, maybe even for molding, would make much more sense. #recycling
Detailed guide by Jeandre Groenewald. Looks like a good way to learn basic coding by designing 3D models 🤓
New PollyFab 3D printed shoes just arrived. Unfortunately, our Chief Inspector Teddy is currently on light duty after surgery… but still insisted on supervising the unboxing 🐶 #3dprintedshoes
One gadget I tested at the recent trade show was AirPods Pro. Surprisingly helpful for hearing in noisy talks and demos. I wouldn’t want them all the time as I still enjoy silence, but for events like this, they made a real difference.
Fingers crossed 🤞 I might receive one for review. Interesting to see LiDAR spatial scanning technology becoming more accessible. #3dscanning
Siraya Tech was at SMRRF. I was impressed by their FDM TPU prints.
Events like #SMRRF remind me why I started @3dwithus.bsky.social in the first place: to document the community. Experiences like this deserve more than a short 3D news update. I’m proud of how the journey unfolded and already looking forward to the next one.
My digging into 3D printed shoes continues. Here are the shoes I spotted and tested at #SMRRF @The_SMF_ D7 by @David_Tobin, Flush by Pollyfab3D, 3D printed in various TPU at @SirayaTech stand #3DPrinting
My #DeathRacer braved all three fights! Only a little facelift needed. #SMRRF @The_SMF_ @samprentice.bsky.social
Piranha DeathRacer is on its way to #SMRRF in Manchester. Follow the quote tweets in order to see the nearly year-long evolving story. It's time. Today is the day! #3DPrinting #DeathRacer @The_SMF_ @samprentice.bsky.social
👍 Rest assured that Teddy has been paid handsomely... in treats and hugs 🐶 🐾♥️
Just in case my DeathRacer gets destroyed 😬 at #SMRRF, I decided to preserve it in 3D. Maybe even as a keychain. @EinstarOfficial Rockit did a great job. #3DScanning #3DPrinted #DeathRacer @The_SMF_ @samprentice.bsky.social
It’s here. Snapmaker U1 has officially landed. Chief Inspector Teddy 🐾 has already approved the delivery. Setup and testing coming soon. #snapmaker #SnapmakerU1 #3DPrinting
First test of the freshly built DeathRacer. Finally running in the wild. The gears need a little fine-tuning, but I’m very pleased with the result. Getting ready for SamPrentice’s DeathRacers show at The_SMF #SMRRF #3DPrinting
Thanks, Gabe, appreciated! I also designed and posted a few original models on file repositories. I understand the issue very well.
A section of the text of the article linked above. Every example calculation includes a $1 tip for the designer.
Good reminder (for both buyers and sellers) that the biggest contributor to cost is usually labor.
As someone whose designs are popular with sellers, this section stood out to me. I can say from experience that very few people are bothering to tip the designer. So kudos for encouraging it.
Updated 3D Print Cost Calculator, now cleaner and more user-friendly. Yes, it still includes the controversial “3D printer life expectancy (h)” metric 👀 3dwithus.com/3d-print-cos... #3dprint #cost #calculator
If you need to justify your 3D printing hobby at home, here’s a handy electricity cost calculator 😉 Spoiler: it doesn’t use as much power as you might think. For UK folks, it’s even more reasonable. 3dwithus.com/3d-printer-e... #3dprinting #electricity #calculator
Update: It is probably an anti-record, as I have been building this since April 2025, but there has been some progress. Electronics left 😅 Getting ready to @SamPrentice’s DeathRacers show at @The_SMF #SMRRF #3DPrinting
3DPI Executive Survey 2026: What does 3D printing look like in 2036? 3dprintingindustry.com/news/the-fut...

Thank you, @michaelpetch.bsky.social, Oscar Milani Gallieni, and Nick Stent, for organizing this again.
Significant funding flowed into Chinese personal 3D printing companies in late 2025. The full impact will take time, but 2026 should begin revealing faster product cycles, tighter integration, and broader expansion.
Tool-changer systems proved their value in 2025. In 2026, more brands will introduce alternatives. Less waste and faster multi-material workflows are hard to ignore.
AI made a noticeable leap last year, and in 2026, adoption will accelerate. Chat-based tools are already generating simple printable models. They are lowering the barrier to entry, and more users will rely on AI for usable starting points. #AI #3Dprinting
I was invited to contribute to the 3D Printing Industry 2026 Executive Survey. Based on what I see daily in the personal and prosumer market, here is my perspective on where 3D printing is heading: 👇🧵
