Feeling the spring mood, here’s a silk moth WIP

The Avatar movie leak feels like it was designed in a lab to farm engagement for Paramount. Whether it was intentional “anti-marketing” marketing or they lucked into it, I feel like the entire online discussion and fan/pirate/artist feud around it has funneled way more eyes onto the project.

The artwork shows a scene with ruin made of columns and vases. There are large vases and pitchers in the background. There are stacked constructions resembling temples. They are made of columns, vases and sculptures. Some columns are falling, some vases are broken and some roofs are sliding down. There's a round pool in the center decorated with mosaics on the outside. Broken plates, bowls and vases are scattered around it. Some have large eggs in them and some have flowers. There's a large open egg in the center. It lays on a broken plate decorated with flowers. A woman is standing at the center of the egg releasing a young heron. There are doves flying up on both sides of the heron. There are three adult herons landing in the pool. The artwork is mostly blue, grey, white and beige.

The artwork shows a ceremony on a patio. There's a round pool in the center of the image and a round arch in the background. Sisters of the convent are placed in different locations performing different parts of the ritual. Half of them wear a peacock mask and half of them wear sun-like headpieces. There's a woman in the center on the horse. She wears a blue dress decorated with mosaic-like patterns. The horse is covered with blue patterns and stands still above the water. Two twins are sitting on the floor surrounded by large lilies. Behind them one sister plays a harp and another one is holding two bowls with mysterious light. There's a big mosaic tree in the background with other sisters dancing around it. There are two other sisters on top of the wall waving scarves. The artwork is mostly blue and light green

Commission for Ed Niedermeyer and autonocast. The artwork shows a scene with a city and an autonomous bus in the center. There are passengers in the bus. Some are sitting and some are standing. The bus has dome-shaped roofs. A man in a long coat is standing outside the bus holding a briefcase. Another man is selling some fake or stolen watch behind the bus. There are buildings and bridges in the background with a few more characters. All the characters are skeletons. There are some autonomous mini cars around the artwork. The artwork is densely decorated with patterns and tiles. It is mostly green, mustard, red and blue.

Damn dude, you wanna read a terrific book? This is a good one for our bleak and violent times. Three collected novellas catalogue a monastery of monks at the dry edge of the world through the ages of humanity rebuilding after nuclear holocaust.

Kris, we have Applin, Absol (Mega Z), Morgrem, Ceruledge, Luvdisc, and then... the last one we're not sure. Mimikyu because Kris has always struggled with their identity? Slowking (Galarian) for the shell crown possession motif? Maschif because its a puppy? Open to ideas on this one.

Spoilers sort of - seeing the ash fall over all of Pewter City and bury the museum, seeing the beached rusting S S Anne, seeing all these decaying monuments that were so familiar in Pokemon RBY… It’s sort of melancholy in an interesting way

Pokopia, beyond being incredibly creative and fun, also has a low simmer narrative that hits close to home about climate catastrophe and loss and finding meaning in communally rebuilding a world that has been left to rot. I don’t know, it’s weirdly affecting.
