Finished The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by @sgj.bsky.social yesterday. I highly recommend the audiobook, especially for the final few chapters. *chef's kiss* Right up there with Project Hail Mary audiobook. #booksky

Pete Buttigieg breaks down DEI for everyday folks…
“The opposite of diversity is uniformity. The opposite of equity is inequity. The opposite of inclusion is exclusion.” @petebuttigieg.bsky.social
Our problem: too many value uniformity over inclusion and they’re the ones running the government.

Maybe corny but it was helpful for me to hear Henry Rollins saying "this is not time to be dismayed, this is punk rock time, this is what Joe Strummer trained you for... You can be thunderous in your own life, to the eight people around you. That rubs off... Goodness is viral"
Book cover of They Thought They Were Free: The Germans 1933-1945 by Milton Mayer
I finished this book yesterday. Highly recommended! As a youngster, I always wondered how the German people allowed those atrocities to happen. Now I know it happens all the time. This book shows just how easily people will fall in line, and I fear it is happening in the U.S. right now. #booksky
History doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes…
Last night, I watched 28 Days Later for the first time in years. It still holds up as one of the scariest movies I've seen. That tunnel scene is etched in my brain forever! #filmsky
From EARTHSEED: THE BOOKS OF THE LIVING Choose your leaders with wisdom and forethought. To be led by a coward is to be controlled by all that the coward fears. To be led by a fool is to be led by the opportunists who control the fool. To be led by a thief is to offer up your most precious treasures to be stolen. To be led by a liar is to ask to be told lies. To be led by a tyrant is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery.

Sitting in the parking lot at work really not wanting to do this today.
Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982: A Novel by Cho Nam-joo The Odyssey of Phillis Wheatley: A Poet's Journeys Through American Slavery and Independence by David Waldstreicher Recitatif: A Story by Toni Morrison
These are the books I've finished over the past 4 days. I recommend them all, especially Recitatif by Toni Morrison. It's a short story that forces one to confront their inherent bias. I love how Morrison makes me work every time I read her art. #booksky
I think returning books early on #Libbyapp is an act of benevolence. There were 42 people in line for “How We Learn To Be Brave” by Bishop Mariann Budde.
Is it time to make the switch to green tea???
Getting a library card is punk as fuck and free!
My library didn't have a copy of “How We Learn To Be Brave” by Bishop Mariann Budde in their catalog. I placed a request for the ebook and audiobook this morning. I was tagged this afternoon that both were waiting for me. #libbyapp and #phoenixpubliclibraries for the win! #booksky
This Book Won't Burn by Samira Ahmed
Halfway done with this one. I decided it was time for a change of pace. Who says adults can't read YA???
Helpful!

Finished this one by Joe Abercrombie yesterday. Loved it! #booksky
A screenshot of Maggie Smith's "Good Bones" Life is short, though I keep this from my children. Life is short, and I’ve shortened mine in a thousand delicious, ill-advised ways, a thousand deliciously ill-advised ways I’ll keep from my children. The world is at least fifty percent terrible, and that’s a conservative estimate, though I keep this from my children. For every bird there is a stone thrown at a bird. For every loved child, a child broken, bagged, sunk in a lake. Life is short and the world is at least half terrible, and for every kind stranger, there is one who would break you, though I keep this from my children. I am trying to sell them the world. Any decent realtor, walking you through a real shithole, chirps on about good bones: This place could be beautiful, right? You could make this place beautiful.
