This would be welcome and in addition, let’s make support and pathways to it fit for purpose for carers of all ages with it underpin by national carer strategy, register and covenant plus an independent commissioner. Also needed is an overhaul of DWP vulnerable customer identification and support.

As always with AtW, we will have to wait and see how this is implemented and how individual Case Managers interpret the guidance…I urge caution and flexibility as we collectively seek to both get, and keep, Britain 🇬🇧 working and earning.

4. Removing flexibility to allow small increases in support without the need to raise a Change of Circumstance.
Access to Work have always worked on the basis that they provide support 'above and beyond Reasonable Adjustments' and they don't fund 'standard business items'…
The areas of change are:
1. Special Aides and Equipment - more pushback onto employers.
2. Hard limits on Support Worker hourly rates
3. Stricter rules and criteria for awarding Job Aide Support Workers …

I hold we should expect our government departments to set the gold standard in supporting vulnerable people, especially so where they sponsor essential UK sector regulators and require them to prioritise vulnerable customer identification and support interventions

We are reaping the consequences of UK Government and societal failure to embrace prevention and supporting healthy ageing re all of the determinants of health. This compounded by our ageing UK that increasingly needs to work and care lacking a national care strategy.
