I finished this embroidery project and it's blocked and ready to hang on my wall. I'm ready to try more stumpwork and thread painting techniques.

My rule is no sewing after midnight. That's when disasters happen.

Sew up casing. And you have a skirt! A skirt is a good first project because it's really pretty easy. It's actually just squares.

You probably can if the skirt isn't too complicated. Cut two rectangles that are wider than your body and as long as you want. (Yes press and finish your seams). Make an elastic or drawstring casing at the top. Thread in elastic at the top, using bodkin or safety pin. Secure elastic ends together.

Continuing my fiber journey with flax! The most difficult fiber I've spun so far. I was so surprised I got usable yarn because it looked like straw when I was spinning it. Scouring makes such a difference!

I got some super pretty cotton carders from celestial farms (cfmercantile) on etsy. I've been making punis cause that's the only way I can spin cotton, it's so hard! But I'm getting the hang of it.

My first practice weaving project is done! Two little washcloths. I did use some handspun. I've been practicing using this tahkli spindle for cotton so I used some of that for the edges and the hemstitching. Now time to warp for some towels! #weaving #rigidheddleweaving #handspunningandfiberprep

Yeah I ended up hemstitching and using cardboard spacers. I ended up making two little washcloths.

First woven thing! Washcloth I guess? Now I've got to look up how leave some space so I can have a fringe and weave another one on this same warp.

And we're weaving! I measured this yarn at 25 wpi. So I'm using the 12.5 heddle, but its kind of like an open weave, so I don't know what that's about. I haven't quite figured out sett yet, but we'll just go with it.

We have warp! Wow, that was hard but I got it done! I just warped it with cheap cotton warp twist yarn I had to practice before I use any of my handspun. I definitely learn by doing, because those instructions are hard to understand, but I kind of get it now. #rigidheddleweaving #fiberarts #weaving

All set up and ready to go! I got an ashford rigid heddle loom! Ready for my next fiber arts skill. I did some weaving on a floor loom in college and I loved it, so I can't wait to get back into it!

Spinning is a skill that you can learn in an hour and keep learning for years. The best thing to do is just practice, and some strategic youtube videos. If you even manage to make something that semi resembles yarn the first time you are doing pretty good.
