Thank you so much! We're getting closer every day 🙏🙏
Thank you for the kind offer! We would consider loaned equipment, but DSLRs are about the only thing we're not actually missing!
We are nearly 20% of the way to our funding goal!
If 100 amazing people donate €15, we will have a tracking mount for the Bortle 2 skies at the IAYC 2026 🔭

I am currently working in astronomy outreach at Royal Observatory Greenwich, and am involved with the International Astronomical Youth Camp (IAYC) which is another astronomy outreach organisation for young people

Very interesting indeed. We are after a strainwave mount, and met Proxisky at a conference, but we're by no means wedded to them. That is very useful information for when it comes to buying time!
The IAYC organisers make NO money from the IAYC, we are all volunteers who were once IAYC participants ourselves. The camp is run at-cost, with most of the participation fee going towards room and board.
We have put a portion of our budget towards the equipment, the Go Fund Me covers what remains 🙏
We have started a Go Fund Me with specific goals and the details of the equipment we are hoping to buy

If you have redundant equipment that ticks off some of our list (especially in Germany or Spain) please get in touch!

Headline: astronomy equipment is expensive!
@iayc.bsky.social 2026 is in Spain with Bortle 2 skies and a total solar eclipse 🌚🌝
Due to the crazy increase in the cost of running camp and some poorly timed equipment failures, we are fundraising to update our equipment before the IAYC in July

Thanks to the OBBB, Amazon’s tax bill for 2025 is $1.2 billion, down from $9 billion the year before despite a 45% jump in profits.

Here's mine.
Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on.

We place great importance on inclusivity and respect, values which help to make the IAYC an excellent place to learn about astronomy!
Thanks for tuning in and clear skies 🌌

When it comes to application gender statistics, we see more non-male applicants than male, which is not unique to our program. This trend is generally explained by traditional learning environments being best suited to males, thus non-males tend to seek alternative learning environments.

This year, 54 distinct countries were represented in applications, which is about a 17% increase in different nationalities from 2024, and a 32% increase from 2023! The international atmosphere of camp is one we are proud to offer, which fosters collaboration, discovery, and connection with peers.

The Vagina Museum is just one month away from closing. Forever. A perfect storm of circumstances means that we may have to close our doors permanently and cease all digital activities. But we're not going to go down without a fight. Save the Vagina Museum. www.gofundme.com/f/btscc2
