Finally got to watch 📽️ The Toxic Avenger (rel2025). The Steelbook Blu Ray came in on Friday. So this one was quite the departure from the 1984 version. While I enjoyed it. I did find myself missing that raw Troma vibe. It was there, just under a lot of—polish.

DiBlasi would feel vindicated by your choice. Both great films. Although I prefer the original with a more eerie claustrophobic vibe, I really can’t fault anyone for liking Malum better.
If you can’t watch Sandberg’s Lights Out, at least try to watch the shorts on Vimeo that his film is based on.

Went to the OnlyFangs 📽️ Premiere in Modesto, Ca last night. What an absolute blast! Keep an eye out for this one coming to a streamer (Tubi, Prime Video) soon. I have a small part in this film, so it was great to see it in front of an audience!

Panasonic LUMIX S9 and LUMIX 26mm Pancake Lens.

Finally caved and picked up a Panasonic Lumix S9 (as well as the 26mm pancake lens from Lumix). The first 2 shots included below. I needed an a long time upgrade from my G7, so I opted for FullFrame over going with a G9. Looking forward to toting this outfit around with me for a while.

It’s hard for me to compare those two films. Both near-perfect films and shot in completely different styles. Loved both, but the darker, more sinister, tone in Weapons put it over Sinners for me. I would probably compare Weapons more toward Bring Her Back, which is also an epic film, than Sinners.

Sinners was my fav for the year up until this one. Both excellent films. A lot of great horror releases so far this year.

Probably the best horror 📽️ film I have seen in 2025 so far. If you are a filmmaker, and you can appreciate top level camera work, you will probably love this film. Highly recommended Weapons!

I remember a couple of my coworkers and I went to see the Friday matinee on opening weekend during our lunch break while working at the Anchorage Daily News. We did our best to arrive back to work with little notice of being late, but everyone knew. 😂

This is not just a great horror film, this is a beautifully crafted film all around. Period. Definitely recommend! In theaters now.

Totally agree with that, and I will add…That 2 would not be anywhere near the same film in color. The crudeness of 2 uses the B&W format as a crutch. And I think that is why I like it. I think the color version would be campy as hell. I hear there is a color version out there, but no hurry to watch

I relatively enjoyed them both, but I think I liked 2 better. It’s darker, grittier, and well… definitely more graphic. 😂

The Human Centipede 2

Finally gave in… Call me a sociopath, depraved, a tasteless lunatic, whatever… But I did not hate this film. 📽️ Would I recommend it to everyone? Probably not. Would I recommend it to budding filmmakers with a penchant for horror films? Absolutely!
