I am appalled by the forceful removal of Senator Alex Padilla from DHS Secretary Kristi Noem’s press conference in Los Angeles, in a blatant assault on the First Amendment right to free speech and expression. We must stand up to this unacceptable authoritarianism and federal overreach.

This treatment of a duly elected sitting senator is shameful and disrespectful.

Using force to silence Senator Alex Padilla is unacceptable.

The way federal agents charged @padilla.senate.gov then handcuffed him is outrageous. This disregard for U.S. senators trying to ask questions is straight out of the authoritarian’s playbook. If the Trump Admin will attack a senator this way, what will they do to the American people?
