This is the injury report for tonight’s joke of a Pacers-Nets game. Don’t let your kids play basketball, the world’s most dangerous sport!

Also looking forward to Giancarlo Stanton becoming MLB's first .500 batter.
(Dwight Gooden batted .500 for CLE in 1999, but he had only two at-bats. He didn't qualify for the batting title, but he crushes the .300-season category in Immaculate Grid.)
Twenty-eighth straight Opening Day with this box of Wheaties.
It reads “Better If Used By 03SEP99.” Hope I don’t get the munchies tonight.
More of this in sports and less gambling ads, tanking and rage-baiting hot takes. Much, much more of this.
This composite of baseball's career ERA leaders (via @baseball-reference.com) is wild. Mariano Rivera was a modern unicorn.
I never fully appreciated how much and how well young Babe Ruth pitched. He won 89 games, tossed 17 shutouts, logged 1,190 innings and had a 2.19 ERA for BOS from 1914-19.
Recognition for his achievements in Immaculate Grid is long overdue!
Aaron Judge's career total of 830 RBIs seemed shocking low to me. Sure enough, its way lower than any player with at least his total of 368 HRs.
A couple of my suggestions for NFL clichés made the podcast, starting around the 45-minute mark. Longtime fan of the program, so it was fun to contribute my all-time weird, only-in-NFL phrasing:
When a running back who scores easily is said to have gone "unmolested" into the end zone.
At the end of the 1985 season, at 21 years old and having spent just two years in the majors, Dwight Gooden already had 41 wins, 544 Ks and a 17.7 career WAR. Cannot overstate the excitement he brought to stadiums ... and card shops!
How was it possible for Jacksonville Jaguars HOF lineman Tony Boselli to have started all 16 games and be first-team All-Pro in 1999 AND get two votes for Comeback Player of the Year the following season? www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/Bo...
I'm confused.
Criteria reads, "3-0 Count (within Count/Balls-Strikes), requiring On-Base% = 1.000 and Hits = 0, sorted by greatest Plate Appearances."
Not sure what that tells us. These guys walked a lot after getting to 3-0, but they could've also made outs that we filtered?
Rs and SBs also low.
Curiosities found on @baseball-reference.com: In 2000, Astros outfielder Richard Hildalgo batted .314, hit 44 HRs, scored 118 runs, had 122 RBIs, posted an OPS of 1.028 and finished TWENTIETH in NL MVP voting. Just a wild era of offensive around MLB. www.baseball-reference.com/awards/award...
How much has pitching usage changed in baseball? The 1969 Mets used just six pitchers in their entire five-game World Series triumph over the Orioles. The 2024 Dodgers used 13 pitchers in last year's World Series -- which also went five games -- against the Yankees.
Loudest roar I've heard for any attendee during my years as season ticket holder for the Nets and Liberty.
I wonder if he was more likely waiting for his turn for a photoshoot at Yankee Stadium on a different date. We know at least one photographer was there. 😀
Baseball Reference has a box score from that date of a Yankees 4-2 win over the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Reported attendance of 4,500 at Fenway Park and a speedy 1:25 game duration. www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BOS/BO...
New York Liberty at Indiana Fever on Saturday.
New York Knicks at Indiana Pacers on Sunday.
Two improbable road comebacks at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Wild MLB stat, literally: Nolan Ryan's career record of 2,795 walks is 52% higher than No. 2 Steve Carlton (1,833), who pitched in 24 seasons. And it's 186% more than active leader Justin Verlander (973), now in his 20th season. www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/BB_p...
Comebacks and huge road victories have defined the 2025 NBA postseason for me, and Game 1 of Pacers vs. Knicks took it to another level.
1980 AL MVP voting
Was there ever a federal investigation into how Yankees catcher Rick Cerone got a first-place vote for AL MVP in 1980, the same year George Brett batted .390 with 24 HRs and led the league in WAR (9.4), batting, OBP, slugging and OPS?
The Dodgers team store must be an exhausting place to work! Six of the top 20 sellers across the league.
Check out the size of the glove Guirdry used four decades ago as compared to now with Gil.
Preparation for the first season of interleague play in 1997?
A look at baseball cards on COMC (my favorite sports card selling platform) sorted by Most in Stock. The 1987 Topps cards are iconic but were printed to the moon. One seller has 375 copies of the 2017 Bowman Yoan Moncada starting at $0.50. They might sit there forever. #CardSky
I was aware of his "Bam Bam" nickname, but the "Sir" part is new to me. An explainer from his Wikipedia page...
Hensley Meulens going the extra mile.
Dude is asking $49 million on eBay for a Patrick Mahomes rookie card, but don’t forget $4.51 shipping for the bubble mailer. 😂

Gotta think every NBA GM is calling up the Mavs to congratulate them on a shrewd acquisition of Anthony Davis. And to see if they'd trade Kyrie Irving for a Hawk Tuah coin.
Eyeing Bullet Rogan's @baseball-reference.com page for the first time, and I'm ready to crush some Immaculate Grid squares that combine 1-team, .300 lifetime BA, HOF, Negro Leaguer, sub-3.00 ERA, every fielding position but SS. The works!
Feels more like a, “Who are you rooting against?” Super Bowl.
