Kinesin-1 conformational dynamics are controlled by a cargo-sensitive TPR switch Cargo-adaptor binding to the KLC-TPR domains binding triggers structural rearrangements that relieve kinesin-1 autoinhibition, enabling MAP7 recruitment, through an allosteric mechanism that connects ...

Two manuscripts from the lab to catch up upon exploring aspects kinesin-1 regulation. First, our examining the role of cargo-adaptor binding in controlling kinesin-1 conformational dynamics and association with MAP7 is now a VOR @elife.bsky.social elifesciences.org/articles/109...

Second, a new preprint examining how binding of cargo adaptors is integrated with direct association of the motor complex with membranes is available on bioRxiv. We identify the kinase NEK10 as a Kinesin-1/KLC2-selective negative regulator of lysosome transport www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Albini Sessions (Benefit for Letters Charity), by Fugazi 12 track album

Fugazi released last month the scrapped 1992 recording sessions with Albini to raise funds for Letters to Santa - a Chicago-based charity that the late Albini started in the 90s.

Good cause to support by purchasing on bandcamp - and the tunes are 🔥🔥🔥

Microtubules in the axon are GDP bound but adopt a stable GTP-like expanded state Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, Published online: 08 April 2026; doi:10.1038/s41594-026-01787-7Zehr et al. revealed the 2.7-Å cryo-electron microscopy reconstruction of human microtubules in situ in the axon of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPS cell)-derived neurons. It shows an expanded microtubule lattice yet bound to GDP, in contrast to the compacted lattice observed at the iPS cell stage.

We mapped how septins organise infection in the rice blast fungus—and found they are far more dynamic than previously thought.

Septins don’t just form structures - they reorganise over time.

Their interaction networks are dynamically rewired across infection stages, linking septins to diverse cellular processes not previously connected to septin function.

Apparently they started at NYU as a Strokes cover band, I saw in an interview. Didnt know that when I posted. But they also sound a lot like Parquet Courts, which is how I discovered them.

Funding level grandfathering based on initial 1 or 2 R01s posession is a fundamental flaw of MIRA. People who doing well & would have had two R01s are forever locked with one R01 level of funding, and those with higher levels have no incentive. Modest budget adjustments at renewal dont remedy this!
