Happy Earth Day!

My child's school does it absolutely fine and they don't see phones.
Phones to be banned in schools by law in England under govt plans.
Who will do body and bag searches, confiscations, fines, appeals?
How many more school staff will be needed? Cost?
Why not put Faraday's cage on classrooms to block signals?
Ridiculous. That will really help children who need the train or bus apps! Do MPs never need to look on the bus apps for cancellations or check delays on trains? Somehow the system that was already working where phones were not to be seen in schools is being replaced even though schools were happy.

A photograph taken by perching my phone on the low sea defence (sort of) wall in front of Sandgate beach in Kent. Separating the road from a pavement. The image contains a further barrier by way of railings separating pavement from βdropβ to the beach itself. The latter just visible at a point in wall the horizontal dips to form a small trench in an otherwise continuous structure. Taken in full afternoon sunshine to the right the reflection of the sun bleaches an otherwise steely blue appearing sea. The strong horizontals and glinting sunlight were satisfying to my eyes. The framing so that the wave crash, the bottom horizontal of the railings and the top of the wall converge is a happy accident. π

A black and white picture looking out to sea through some vegetation on a cliff edge. One plant that is tall and centre in the frame, is like a tall thin bare tree with just a vertical trunk and some short branches and very little foliage. Sun is visible above the ocean, almost central and the brightness is shining off the surface of the rippled sea.

The sky and the sea turn multiple shades of orange and gold at the tail end of a sunset. Three boats are on the water to watch the final rays of sunlight streak across the sky.
Spectacular sunset! Isnβt it amazing that a sky can turn this colour?

Tall, dry grass stems sway in the foreground, sharply in focus against a vast field of bright yellow rapeseed stretching across the landscape. In the distance, Binevenagh Mountain rises along the horizon in Northern Ireland, beneath a deep blue sky dotted with soft white clouds.
Guys the sun is shining and the birds are singing. Time to take my dog his walk. See you all later. Thought you might like to see the field where I took my #BirdOfTheDay capture. So I start here and hike up the mountain in the background. Have a great day. #photography #Ireland #scape #ECK

Russia has offered to mediate between the US and Iran in the war negotiations, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced.
Got our solar panels installed this AM. They came at 8:30am and we're gone by 1:30pm. 13 panels and 10kwh battery.
We can't export to the grid yet (the network operator has been flooded with new requests) but we charged our car with the sun this afternoon. Great feeling, strongly recommend.
I appreciate a lot of people can't afford the upfront costs, so I did a bit of looking into options with zero upfront cost, in case helpful for anyone. Expect the Govt will announce more details on 0% loans for solar soon too

Screenshot of a tweet by NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman (@astro_reid) describing filming an "Earthset" from space, comparing it to watching a sunset at the beach from "the most foreign seat in the cosmos." He notes he captured a cell phone video while fellow astronaut Christina Koch (@Astro_Christina) used a Nikon with a 400mm lens for professional shots, with Vic Glover (@AstroVicGlover) and Jeremy Hansen (@Astro_Jeremy) watching from window 3.
Continuation of Reid Wiseman's tweet, describing how he used an iPhone with 8x zoom to capture Earth rising over the Moon's surface through the docking hatch window, noting the view is uncropped and uncut and comparable to what the human eye would see. The image shows Earth as a small bright crescent peeking over the dark, cratered lunar surface against the blackness of space.
The most amazing video ever taken on an iPhone.
