Olly Robbins: "Throughout January.. my office.. was under constant pressure.. constant chasing.. has this been delivered yet.."
Robbins is asked who was the source of the pressure.
Robbins refuses to name names.
Pressed, he says the pressure came from no.10's private office
Enough is enough.
Starmer must go.
Martin Wrigley MP lambasts Palantir's mad manifesto saying it's "either a parody of a RoboCop film, or a disturbing narcissistic rant from an arrogant organisation. Either way it shows the company’s ethos is entirely unsuited to working on UK government projects.” www.theguardian.com/technology/2...
It's going to be even worse the next time they appoint Peter Mandelson
Tomorrow Parliament votes on Gambling Impact Assessments, a big step towards giving councils more say over betting shops in their area.
This is progress.
We now must push to end Aim to Permit and giving communities the power to protect their high streets from gambling harms.
OK. It’s over.
Starmer made it seem a bit boring.
But couldn’t explain why he chose Mandelson, looks on wobbly legal ground re DV process & sacking Robbins, was unconvincing on ignoring cab sec advice to do DV before announcing, & admitted knowing of Kremlin links before appointing Mandelson. /1.
They actually did it. Bravo.
Standing by for more.
It's outrageous that this government won't consider public ownership of water
Did Peter Mandelson lobby Steve Reed on this?
Mandelson is co-founder of lobbying firm Global Counsel, privatised water was a client
We want to see the Reed/Mandelson messages

@johnmcdonnellmp.bsky.social : "Isn't the reality this, that when he sought to realise his ambition to become leader of the Labour party with very little base in the party, he became dependent on McSweeney and Mandelson and Labour Together to organise, fund his election.."
Always interesting to hear from James Meadway. Thought-provoking discussion with Ed on topics ranging from community wealth-building to sewer socialism to the trouble with MMT.
Lisa Nandy: In a rare moment of agreement, I agree with the hon. Gentleman that the gambling industry brings joy to a lot of people. He and I have discussed the harms that affect a minority of people. They are significant and important, but the industry as a whole brings positive benefits to the United Kingdom. I think he is underplaying the significant pressures on high street businesses that have existed over the last couple of decades—something that, frankly, his Government did absolutely nothing about over the 14 years that they were in government. We are dealing with those.
Yougov polling on perceptions of the gambling industry - 43% very unfavorable
Really worth stressing what a minority position "the gambling industry is good" is.
Faiza Shaheen: "I support the Greens.. everyone sees the rot in the political system, typified by Mandelson.. no politician is delivering for people.. lots of people are turning to the Greens.. we want to live in a country where we care for each other, where change does happen"
Once upon a time there was a ruler who made a bad decision. All the courtiers and servants knew it was a bad decision, but they put into effect the bad decision, for the ruler had already made and proclaimed the decision. And when it turned out to be a very bad decision indeed, those courtiers and servants were sacked by the now “furious” ruler.
The decision of a Prime Minister
Only one person decided to appoint Lord Mandelson

This Monks Wood #rewilding (natural colonisation) plot is 30 years old this year. It's taken that long for this single Bluebell to migrate 20m from adjacent ancient woodland to colonise the plot. But now it's here, joining the growing trees & shrubs: future ancient woodland in the making.
Update on how 30+ years of rail privatisation has worked out for the UK.
Less electrification means more reliance on fossil fuels, which are now getting more and more expensive.
The news that Mandelson failed security service vetting is NOT NEW.
The story broke 7 MONTHS AGO. See story below.
Keir Starmer and No.10 claim they only found out this week. But the Independent told No.10 that it had two sources confirming he failed vetting - in September 2025.
A web of deceit.
Exactly one year ago today:
Mandelson wasn't a "washed up old spinner", he made millions selling his political contacts to represent firms like Palantir, a career path Team Starmer admire and want to copy ,and he helped design Team Starmer's devious route to leadership. This wasn't a 'mistake', its is who Starmer's group are
The green transition isn’t a “win-win.” Some will lose - and it should be the fossil fuel companies.

🚨 It starts with one leader. Then change spreads.
That’s what’s happening in Europe.
When Pedro Sánchez took a clear stand, he created space.
Now others are stepping in

Guardian says "marathon" peace talks, but without quotes for a mere twenty-hour session.
The talks which led to the Good Friday Agreement took nearly two years, with a longer process of engagement before then.

The Telegraph just gave a convicted criminal a two-page spread to explain why he's pumping £4 million into Reform UK. They tucked his criminal record away in the small print. So as a former financial crime specialist I’ll do their job for them👇

And, of course, the Greens ended up winning this by-election. Tactical voting sites are simply not able to account for what is going on on the ground in council wards. There is a real risk that seeking to vote tactically on May 7th will actually help Reform in a number of places.
A Labour councillor responds: "Animal cruelty and gambling addictions are what make the REAL working class".
