This would be horrific no matter what it was referring to. But "cleaning up the risk pool" by eliminating vaccines just means you kill a bunch of people WHILE ALSO creating a whole new "risk pool" of people with post-viral issues.

Given absolute free reign, I would write a trilogy of tie-in novels detailing the events of the first three seasons of FRINGE as they unfolded in the amber timeline.
And frankly, it's the end of capitalism they're concerned with. If they cared about the species as a whole rather than simply replacing their largely underpaid workforce, they'd be more cognizant and proactive about things like climate change and poverty.
I think they're referencing all the talk of population decline as some kind of catastrophe, with the only way to avert it being to bring back teen pregnancy and have all of us make more babies, rather than responding directly to a point you made.

An update: I am done with Bookcon. Day two went swimmingly.
Both days, a raffle was running for really awesome MtG coloring books. Heavy paper, detailed art, free to enter. But because you had to come to the booth to claim your prize, most prizes had gone unclaimed.
