There is a really fascinating book to be written about race, caste, fascism and tech in Silicon Valley in this The Age of Technofascists.

I quarreled with a pope once.
I was in a bar in Vatican City and got into a shoving match with John Paul I over his use of the sedia gestatoria. I told him it was the same as allying himself with the Mafia. He swung on me, and then the Vatican Guard separated us.
Popes ain't so tough.
@madhav.bsky.social @mujib.bsky.social definitely one for the all-time Stoner Canon. We’re All Juan, omg!

Every one of my friends just wants to work, get paid, and then get io with their lives enjoying things they like and being left alone by strangers.
It’s not a big ask. It’s actually super easy to deliver. But we’re at the whim of pennycounters, psychopaths, and idiots.
A crucial part of Project 2029 has to be performative trials and draconian sentencing for Trump administration officials up and down the organizational ladder. Treat all of them like Timothy McVeigh so that the gravity of their criminality and treason become enduring images in American history.
Such a rich interview with @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social

No other word has done more damage to the craft of writing in recent years than “content”. Even if you’re using the word “content” ironically, or as a cute little joke, don’t. When someone calls writing “content” they’re pissing on someone’s hard work & passion. “Content” is Technosatan’s henchword.
Let's try this again 👋
Hi Bluesky - I'm Massachusetts' Attorney General. You might know me from suing President Trump nearly 50 times, beating Uber and Lyft in court, or being the first woman of color elected to statewide office in MA.
I officially left X today - help me find my MA people?
They should invent an internet where you can be online AND happy
The question of our time is how do you artistically rebel — and win — against a totally flat cultural landscape? And before my readers, who I assume are all approximately 36 years old and very tired, say, “so what, who cares?” This does matter. I mean, just look around right now lol. You know things are bad when even OpenAI President Greg Brockman is posting stuff, like “Taste is a new core skill.” If people had taste, your company wouldn’t exist, Greg. But if everything is just attention now, and attention is completely commodified by algorithmic tech platforms, how can you push back against that? Well, I am slowly coming around to a theory on the new cool: You have to essentially pre-deplatform yourself. Culture right now is determined not by human teams of editors and producers picking and choosing what youth culture gets the spotlight, but, instead, by the unthinking algorithms that power YouTube and TikTok. Which means the only things that have the level of scarcity and danger required to be seen as cool by young people will, slowly, but surely, be whatever is unacceptable on those platforms.
A post so smart I'm almost afraid to share it.

The job of engineers is not to deploy some technology but to build robust, reliable and sustainable (in all meanings of that word) solutions for real world problems based on requirements directly derived from people's needs. Even for an engineer technology comes second at best.
