Hmm OK! Aren’t most people in Svalbard not very aware of the real danger of polar bears?

A muskox photo of mine was used as cover on two different journals for these papers:

Although I wasn't directly involved in any of the studies, it feels nice to contribute with an image to the covers!

You mean people do not look out for polar bears when the go out (for the reindeer) or they will go out when the next polar sighting in town happens?

Thought I would share some of my nature photos from Greenland. Here an adult Arctic fox in summer coat. We monitor the breeding of these as part of our long term ecosystem monitoring at Zackenberg.

arctic fox in snow
This young arctic fox ended up on the cover of the Finnish magazine Luonto some time ago. I also get a fantastic feeling when my photos gets published.

I just discovered this freely available book on digital signal processing and love the fact that it is“…intended for students … who may not have much mathematical or engineering training.” Seems like a great resource in bioacoustics!

Muskoxen in a snow clad landscape with mountains in the background
Another of our GPS collared muskoxen seem to have died. At least the collar is stationary and we got a mortality alert.
Here is a few photos of live muskoxen...

Track of muskox 75
Zackenberg Muskox 75 seemingly died on Oct. 6th. This is what a mortality position cluster looks like.
I really miss the option to share sounds and videos here on Bluesky! I should probably get an account on SoundCloud or the like.
You haven’t tried muskox rumination sound?….
I also find it cool to add another journal cover image to my selection!

Happy to have contributed to the paper "Accounting for behaviour in fine-scale habitat selection: A case study highlighting methodological intricacies" besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....
in the recent issue of Animal Ecology.
Have a look! It is open access!
Hi @danirabaiotti.bsky.social Please add me to the “What’s Science” feed! Thx
That's great! Thanks a lot!
I am struggling a bit with the profile banner image! I wonder what the best way to control it is!
They may look cute but they are very wild and can be quite aggressive. I have been bitten wearing HD welding gloves while handling one during a capture. It did not bite through but the force exerted drew blood from under my nail. So NO petting!
