A branch of pluot blossoms, tiny and white and all packed together like a fur coat, five petals, slim petals, yellow centers on dark brown branches. A blue sky behind the flowering tree
Two daffodils up close, the sunlight shining on their paper thin cream colored petals, bright and dark orange trumpets, green stalks and leaves behind the flowers.
Peach blossoms just beginning to open up on an otherwise bare tree. An aluminum shop building sits blurry in the background, the sky a washed out blue above. The blossom itself is pale pink and papery, the center and the sex parts are darker pink and look like fireworks, most of the tree is covered not in open flowers like this one, but tight oval pink buds. Fun fact, unlike most fruit blossoms, peach flowers do not smell nice, they smell a bit like butt.
The early fruit trees and daffodils are blooming. Had a 29 degree morning though, so some of that fruit is naught. Some years, most years, we just have to enjoy the flowers cuz that's all we get #Oregon #Spring
2/2 I just did not remember it being that bloody hard but figured I was just having a rough day. Got to the top confused, because things didn't look right, no visual landmarks, but also the view was wrong, then realized I'd gone up the wrong damn side, the incredibly steep side. Funny thing.
landscape photo of mid columbia basin Oregon plateau farm land, wind farms and ranchland, canyons, hills, fields, and one large hill near the center of the frame, gentle slope on the left side, steep drop off on the right, foreground young wheat green and short, surrounded by the fringe of dry golden winter weeds, background, the blue sky, pale blue clouds, and the blue hills of the Washington side of the Columbia.
1/2 Diamond Butte. Used to run a route took me to it, long winding dirt farm road that went around to the gentle slop and up to the top. One time I ran a diff route, just exploring, and thought I'd found the road but couldn't figure out why I was struggling to make it up top #TrailRunning #Oregon
I don't think people fully appreciate how apocalyptic things are for US science. I haven't had any new funding since 2024, but I'm still ok since typical grants are for three years. This means next year I will be completely out of funding and will have to fire everyone in the lab. It's not great.
The happiness of this blind little dog when she was adopted is indescribable . 😍
She's the best Hyacinth
photo of the drive through Hasty Freez in Albany, Oregon, as the sky darkens several cars parked on the street while their owners wait up front under the cone for a burger and shake, while others drive up to the window to place their orders. Bright lights under the caesar haircut roof line illuminate the tiny old building with its order windows declaring open. Sign above in red and turquoise reads HASTY FREEZ next to a giant vanilla soft serve cone
If Hasty Freez is open, there's a line of cars on both sides, and a line of people up front. Albany, Oregon.
Very tubby tabby lies on a soft rug on his side and back, most of his fluffy tummy up, he hold his wee arms up bent and across his chest, his little cat hands nearly touching, a colorful felted ball and mouse garland draped around him after playtime, he stares off to the right, all pooped out
Howard loves anything felted. And he loves to lie on the floor in otter pose and disassociate.
magenta colored hyacinth, close up, its stem dark brown/purple, its leaves like swords held up in a salute
Hyacinths close up, pale pink and standard blue, a little phlox trying to peak through.
iridescent blue lilac of a hyacinth ready to open, just the prettiest colors
Been enjoying the hyacinths
In the most recent special election in Florida, the President violated his proposed Safe Act when he voted by mail!
WTF???

It’s as easy as shutting your effin mouth!
And did I mention… it’s free?!
The real story… under any other president this would be jail time…
Photo of a small low clump of pale pink five petaled phlox star flowers with their pine needle foliage growing through the grass, both green and fresh spring growth and the old winter brown. In the distance in the top third of the frame is the sky and the canyon below.
Wild phlox blooming up on top #Oregon
Remember when all the Republican mouthpieces assured Americans that no one would lose health insurance due to Trump's Orwellian-named "Big Beautiful Bill"?
Over 2 million Americans have already lost coverage. That's from the facts, not a prediction.

Does she have little ear tufts? What a pretty kitty.
picture of the dense part of an old apricot tree just beginning bloom. The tangle of branches, thick and slim are dark brown, and the blossoms tiny and white, while the sky, visible in the smallest patches behind hit, is pale pink.
Working on the chicken tractor as the sun went down, noticed the eastern sky preglow before sunset had lit up the apricot tree with a blush pink background. Not peaceful though, as the kestrels were flying around screaming at each other, the fuckwinds that they are. Just nonstop wind fucking.
Q: You don’t regret that people might’ve lost important income to support their lives?
A: No, I think it was more important to reduce the federal deficit.
Q: Ok. Did you reduce the federal deficit?
A: No, we didn’t.
A picture of an aluminum grid cage used to hold large tanks of chemicals, the one side cut mostly off (that was very satisfying work), inside the cage a wooden shelf has been made part way up and at the back to hold the chicken roost. Wood from a big old dog house sits on top. This is all in a yard with green grass and alberta spruce hedges. An unhelpful tabby can be seen in the background.
Picture of the busted up old dog house pieces lying beside some that I have already put back together and fortified and attached to the cage frame. It's a cedar look, though not sure what it really is, thin slats of red orange. I am using this because I like to reuse and dislike tossing stuff, but also this wood has lots of life left in it and it's lightweight, which is important for something I have to carry around the yard all by myself. All this sits on a grassy patch in the yard as well as a big brick scrabble board.
Last year I took down all the old little chicken pens & redid the big pen; this year the lesser chore of making a new chicken tractor. Bit of a rush as I have 2 chicks ready to move in. Using a leftover chemical cage & a busted up old dog house my MIL threw out plus the salvage from the old pens.
Turquoise pottery pie pan with thick fluted pie crust and a deep yellow centered pie topped with puffs of whipped cream. One small slice is missing from this up close picture, so one can see the inside of the pie. On a fake granite counter.
Made a lemon cream pie and after a day it was gone. At one point I went to get a piece and it looked like someone had put their face straight into it.
I had a friend who promised to make me mashed potatoes. I don't eat much but I eat those. I ended that friendship because she had ISSUES, and I have enough of that already. Whenever I make mashed potatoes now I think about how happy I am and the bullet I dodged, because she made hers with broth.

A dark money group, hidden behind a bunch of shell companies, is paying influencers thousands of dollars PER POST to attack @katmabu.bsky.social on social media a month before her election.
Thank you to the people who declined the money and went forward with this. So who's behind this?
