I have approximately 8 cats. I tried building a tower with a metal barrel with a metal wash tub on top setting on the end of my potting table & they weren't buying it. I live 5 blocks from a large creek & 11 blocks from the river. I think they'd rather fly farther & feel safer.

I was adopted by a feral family 3 years ago. They were caught by the feral cat fixing ppl and then settled on my back yard/deck. 2 have become indoor/outdoor, 1 will come through the kitty door to eat, then out, 2 won't ever come indoors. Occasionally, a raccoon visits the outside dish.

I feed both Crows and Scrub Jay's peanuts on the porch roof below my bedroom window. The Jay's bury a lot of theirs, the Red Squirrels and the Crows dig them up and steal them.

Are you listening Portland OR metro area? Stop trying to make Oregon pay for ANYTHING to do with the Trailblazers or your desired Baseball dreams. Let the team owner pay the bills, they are the ones who make the $, not the service job workers who can't afford rent or food.

Monterey Park becomes the first city in California to ban "all data centers within city limits" Residents of the small enclave east of LA not only killed their city's proposed 250,000 square foot data center, they pushed city council to ban them altogether

The "public comments at the hearing before the vote left little doubt that Monterey Park residents overwhelmingly disdained not only the prospect of a massive, noisy, and polluting infrastructure project being erected in their backyards, but who that project would benefit, at their expense.”

And eroding. I live in a deep, wide river gorge. It always fascinates me to look at the hills across the river and think of the millions of years of erosion that has shaped this place I call home.

Seeing a whale breach near our boat was one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

Thank you Tom for a quick primer on the states I definitely would not visit, if I felt this was the kind of economy that I felt it was safe to spend $ on tourism. Which I definitely do not.

know your seedlings, a very helpful thing to know when weeding. also, my grandma taught me that anything growing where you don't want it is a weed, maybe a weed that needs to be moved to somewhere you do want it. I do a lot of that. sunflowers and zinnias look a lot alike at 2 leave stage,be careful

I now have not only the feral family, but a raccoon that comes when i call Kitty, Kitty in the morning. Some days she is waiting with them, the other day she was asleep on a cat bed waiting for me to feed them.
This has caused Hissy cat to start venturing through the cat door to eat in the basement.

She is much more rough looking then my deeply loved and very missed Ginger. Ginger was 19 and pretty rough looking when she passed last year.

Put a bowl of cat food on your back porch, it will happen.

That brings back memories of my sisters' cat doing that.
It was not pretty & I discovered she is not worth crap in emergency situations or caring for a cat's medical needs when a fan has sliced him open.
I did get to slap her to make her quit screaming while I was trying to move her & pop the hood.

I was not planning on being a homemaker, so only took the mandatory trimester of home ec, but I also took her class that ran what passed for a cafeteria in our school. Cheeseburger, hamburgers and grilled cheese.
Sarah Skandera (I may be misspelling that) was a really great teacher.
