This Western Tiger Swallowtail was dancing through the yard today. This beautiful specimen had about a 4" wingspan - shockingly large compared to our "resident" Gulf Fritillaries. Happy to see more species of insects in the yard, leaving the leaves always helps! #garden #insect #butterfly

Ein Bäcker-Bock (Monochamus galloprovincialis) sitzt frontal auf einem Kiefernzapfen, der von Fingern gehalten wird. Die Aufnahme ist von hinten, sodass man das Tier sehr gut in seiner kompletten Ausdehnung sehen kann. Seine extrem langen, schwarz schimmernden Fühler überragen die Körperlänge deutlich. Die grau-braun gemusterten Deckflügel sind gut erkennbar. Im Hintergrund ist ein verschwommener Waldweg.
Ein Käfer mit mordsmäßig großen Fühlern? Muss ein Bockkäfer sein!
So ist es auch: Der Bäckerbock (Monochamus galloprovincialis)
Als Größenvergleich hab ich einen Zapfen der Waldkiefer (Pinus sylvestris) genutzt
