Prof Jo Neill (@profjoneill.bsky.social) tells UK politicians:

“Please move psychedelics—all psychedelics—out of Schedule 1 and enable more research to happen in the UK. We absolutely need to bring this to the forefront of the debate in Parliament.”

Home Office may reclassify ketamine in response to record levels of use Illegal use in UK seems to reflect growth of unregulated market in US, where its high-profile users include Elon Musk

The #drugpolicyratchet looks set for another turn, even though the ACMD has repeatedly found no evidence that changing the class of a drug has any effect on levels of use. www.theguardian.com/society/2025... #ketamine

We had a similar problem in a clinical trial where we pre-screened 150 people for a treatment resistant depression study and had zero people enroll... there were so many exclusion criteria to overcome.

Harm reduction must replace punitive drug policies The so-called war on drugs has failed. In the last century, countries have increasingly attempted absolute prohibition of drug use, often via penal measures. Despite global action, these policies have not deterred drug use: we have reached record levels of “abuse, illicit cultivation and production and manufacture of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances”, as acknowledged at the 2024 UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs. Drug trafficking networks have become increasingly sophisticated and violent, and deaths related to drug use have increased.

amend our approach. »

They call for "Humane, evidence-based strategies" and a real Harm Reduction policy. We're making progress 🥹♥️

Interaction effect between treatment expectancy from escitalopram (baseline) and treatment outcome.

Important study on expectations in psychedelic research: for patients with low pre-tx expectancy about escitalopam, psilocybin worked better than escit., but no such effect for pts with higher expectancy for escit. No similar effect for expectancy about psilocybin.

'Right to die' debate must include the 'right to try' psilocybin, advocates urge The Assisted Dying Bill raises important questions about how we support individuals with a terminal diagnosis.

Agreed. Fundamentally, this whole debate comes down to "what is a good death".

Psilocybin can be effective for existential distress at the end of life, and should be among the choices people have as it is in other jurisdictions.
