Suppression of adipocyte ABHD6 favors anti-inflammatory and adipogenic programs to preserve adipose tissue fitness in obesity Some individuals exhibit metabolically healthy obesity, characterized by the expansion of white adipose tissue (WAT) without associated complications.…

Here the Prentki lab proposes that inhibition of monoacylglycerol (MAG) hydrolase α/β-hydrolase domain-containing 6 (ABHD6) in WAT is a therapeutic strategy for improving the health of adipose tissue #obesity www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

I've been doing this for 30 years & I still can't believe that when people ask me what I do for a living I get to tell them "I'm a scientist". It feels like a kid's fantasy career that they dress up as for Halloween, like "astronaut" or "pirate". I feel very lucky I get to do this day in & day out.

The Futile Creatine Cycle powers UCP1-independent thermogenesis in classical BAT Nature Communications - Thermogenesis by brown adipose tissue has long been thought to be solely controlled by uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1). Here, the authors show that energy expenditure in brown...

Today in @naturecomms.bsky.social we show the #FutileCreatineCycle plays a key role in #thermogenesis, independent of UCP1. We also challenge the belief that brown adipocytes lack enough ATP synthase for thermogenesis. Congrats to Jakub Bunk! @mcgillgci.bsky.social
