New York Book Stores 1: On my recent trip to NYC, I walked around the city and happened to find some book stores, so thought I'd pass on some comments for those who plan to visit in the coming months.
First up is Book Off (49 West 45th St., New York, NY 10036, USA / bookoffusa.com).
Text in photos.
April 10, 1996: Star Wars: The Phantom Menace: Doug Chiang depicts an (unused) sky battle between droids on their single trooper aerial platforms and Gungan-mounted air whales. This concept took 2.3 days to complete.

It's a library and a museum. Like many in NYC, it is open Sundays but closed Mondays.
I had a wonderful time visiting the Morgan Library in NYC. I'll share some of the treasures I found there...
April 3, 1997: Star Wars: The Phantom Menace: Doug Chiang’s concept for a residential area of Theed was intended for Ep 1 but became the street of Padmé’s family home in the deleted scene of Attack of the Clones.
Note that the walkway over the street is modeled on the Bridge of Sighs in Venice.
April 2, 1996: Star Wars: The Phantom Menace: This Sith Lord concept is recognizable as Darth Maul. However, Iain McCaig drew feathers (tied around his head with wire), and these were later replaced by horns, giving the Sith Lord an even more demonic appearance.

There were hundreds of these entries. It was quite overwhelming to see the detailed processes that each shot went through.
