Our child's academy school makes extensive use of apps to timetable, schedule appointments and manage homework. They also have very good rules limiting when phones are used so let's just leave it with the schools to run their school and keep government out of it.

That's one school though - imagine schools in areas with poor public transport and/or dangerous streets. They might prefer the flexibility to let kids have phones so they can call home to get lifts. Some schools also use a lot of apps to help kids. Leave it with the schools to judge.

Starmer's an idiot but this is a Tory distraction from the news that we are back at #5 in world economies ... if the media are harping on about a non-story then just look for what they want to cover up

Odd that the BBC and other mass media aren't reporting on it ... I'm sure Laura K will be leading on it in her articles ...

When he appointed him I thought "Hmm, odd choice but maybe he knows more than I do?" ... as it turns out, no, he didn't

Trump sees himself as a king so all this does is reaffirm that and boost his ego by thinking that "other" kings will come when he calls

Hmm, yeah I've never thought "You know, today I'll take the car because it's just sexier than the train" ... do these people actually get paid to write rubbish like that?! lol

We've got a few woodlands around us here that are usually that good if the year isn't too dry - still gorgeous to see - must head out and look at ours :)

Same here in Reading ... one Heb-Char and (more oddly) a white-lipped snail (Cepaea hortensis)!

Wit, unker, git: The lost medieval pronouns of English intimacy Tales of love and adventure from 1,000 years ago reveal a dazzling range of now-extinct English pronouns. They capture something unique about how people once thought about "two-ness".

I find differences in languages fascinating ...

On the previous night in West Dorset we got (Water Carpet?) high on a wall, Pale Pinion and a nice fresh Brindled Beauty. Lovely to see good numbers of moths even with the cold nights.

One of my favourite flowering plants - vividly remember finding the yellow and red forms under Cistus many years ago. Would have been either Minorca or Greece.
