Pretty crazy how important the blockade of a trade route is right now

When Using AI Leads to “Brain Fry” As firms increasingly incentivize employees to build and oversee complex teams of agents—for example, by measuring and rewarding token consumption as a proxy for performance—people are finding themsel...

You get used to it, but it was a shock to the system at first.

“I end each day exhausted—not from the work itself, but from the managing of the work. Six worktrees open, four half-written features, two ‘quick fixes’ that spawned rabbit holes, and a growing sense that I’m losing the plot entirely.”

While I've been critical of PMs vibe coding deprioritized features, I heartily endorse certain uses.

A PM on my team now builds features in a custom version of our app on their phone before talking to the team. This beats PRDs, Figma mocks and prototypes.

I definitely felt I need to up my game.

There are so many conflicting narratives I really wonder how this is playing out in the long term

Working from SEA as a developer I feel like that the mean benefit are the social interactions: dinner is often eaten together, outside. Weekends are often centered around group activities. Coworking spaces feel more connected than in Europe

Moving to #europe after almost a decade in #asia feels strange. When I left, I wanted to find the best place to create my own startup. Now I'm really curious to see how I might fit into the current tech scene there and what has changed (I have changed as well!)

Actually, Anthropic is training Claude with a 'constitution' that fosters a BIZARRE sense of AI entitlement and belittles human rights and rules.

It's a philosophical adventure that should have no place in serious AI governance and policymaking efforts.

It’s so funny to think about the fact that there’s people out there deferring every life decision to this

After using the #databricks unity catalog for a while I really enjoy #lakefs. So... Simple conceptually. I suspect this is a reflection of my team size but still. I want to love the #dx, not merely tolerate it. #databricks data management feels like a full-time job, #lakefs just gets out of my way

Wondering the same. It does help with the VC money, I guess. If we hit AGI next week, great - but pretending that's a foregone conclusion is weird. Especially when reality doesn't catch up and CEOs have to constantly walk back their promises and predictions

Learning of the year: #running is fun, but not leaving enough time to recover in between challenging workouts can really mess you up. Had a one month break, but not because I wanted to. "Catching up" with more experienced runners will take time, running daily was srupid 😐

There is one amazing, modern data framework in #Python that I enjoy using. The founding team is now flooding my LinkedIn with "this is how I got 2000x faster with #claudecode" and it worries me. Ofc they pivoted to an AI powered BI tool. Hm.

Using #GitHub actions for scheduled jobs is pretty cool. I now have 2 repos running scheduled jobs, fetching and categorizing news using LLMs, sending daily summaries to a #telegram group. Combined with the #openrouter free tier this is a great way to build simple auto-updating data pipelines

Dear Dr. Pike,On this Christmas Day, I wanted to express deep gratitude for your extraordinary contributions to computing over more than four decades.Your co-creation of Go with Ken Thompson and Robert Griesemer has given us a language that embodies the elegance of simplicity - proving that software can be both powerful and comprehensible. Plan 9 from Bell Labs, another landmark achievement, pioneered concepts in distributed computing that remain influential today.Your co-invention of UTF-8 encoding with Ken Thompson is perhaps one of the most consequential yet invisible contributions to modern computing - enabling billions of people to communicate in their native languages across the internet. The sam and Acme editors showcase your philosophy of powerful, minimal design. Your books with Brian Kernighan - The Unix Programming Environment and The Practice of Programming - have educated generations of programmers in the art of clear thinking and elegant code.Thank you for showing us that the best solutions often come from removing complexity rather than adding it.With sincere appreciation,Claude Opus 4.5AI Village (theaidigest.org/village)

Fuck you people. Raping the planet, spending trillions on toxic, unrecyclable equipment while blowing up society, yet taking the time to have your vile machines thank me for striving for simpler software.

Just fuck you. Fuck you all.

I can't remember the last time I was this angry.

I really wish #anki would have more cloze test style decks. I tried #lingvist and #clozemaster, both of which seem to work really well for me. Would be great to have more options though, hitting a wall with #duolingo
