Figure 2. Oxygen Exposure and Arterial Oxygenation by Treatment Group in Patients With Enhanced Data Collection

Conservative oxygen therapy with a target SpO2 of 90% did not reduce 90-day all-cause mortality compared to usual oxygen therapy in mechanically ventilated adult patients.

In children with septic shock and no known cardiac dysfunction, starting treatment with norepinephrine rather than epinephrine was associated with lower 30-day mortality.

I think that could work just fine, especially given the kinetics of NfL compared w some of the other biomarkers, some of which peak early enough that they may not help after 72h.

Impact of initial jugular vein insertion site selection for central venous catheter placement on hemodialysis catheter complications This study evaluated the impact of choosing the right versus left internal jugular vein (IJV) for initial central venous catheter (CVC) placement on h…

Finally some evidence to support a concept we’ve taught for years. Save the right IJ for when it’s absolutely necessary (eg, dialysis, ECMO). Kudos to the authors.

In critically ill patients, neither dexmedetomidine nor clonidine was superior to propofol in reducing time to successful extubation. #ATS2025

🚨The Preprint Draft 2025 ILCOR CoSTR is posted🚨

An incredible amount of work goes into developing this document, which will inform practice guidelines worldwide. Proud to be a small part, but mostly impressed with everyone’s work after peeking behind the curtains.

Not in this dataset, but we are currently doing a randomized trial of SGA vs BVM placed by FF/EMTs for OHCA that will
include some fairly detailed ventilation meaurements in both arms. Different question
somewhat, but we hope helpful: clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT059...

Really cool study led by David Murphy on "apnea interval" - the interruption in ventilation due to intubation attempt during CPR. TL;DR: Shorter apnea interval associated with favorable outcomes.

agree w others. benefit, if any, is not immediate, but a small reduction in long-term neurological sequelae. seems that propensity to use depends on ease of access to appropriate chamber.

Does VF on consecutive rhythm checks mean refractory or recurrent VF?

In this analysis of data from cases in the ARREST registry out of Amsterdam, only 5% (n=22) of cases remained in refractory VF after 3 shocks.
