This Sunday our monthly episode looks at the Doctor Who Virgin New Adventure, BLOOD HARVEST. As customary for us, we've recorded a 10m synopsis of the novel for anyone who needs a refresher or has never read it but still wants to tune into the episode.

I've had the theme from Twin Peaks stuck in my head all afternoon at work
The Nightmare of Black Island is a book that peaks at the start with a strong gothic horror opening and compelling mystery, but the rest is just sort of okay with generic warrior aliens in disguise doing nefarious things. Still a good read overall ππͺ #DoctorWho

It's interesting how many of the NSAs books depict violence in a way that's a bit more graphic than you'd see in the show. Plenty of the books have descriptions that reference pools of blood etc., even though as I remember there was a whole thing about blood never being shown onscreen #DoctorWho ππͺ
It still boggles my mind to see some Doctor Who fans try to argue that the BBC should reboot the show from Capaldi's regeneration and retcon the Chibnall and RTD2 eras, as though that is a sensible proposal that the BBC would even consider.
I don't get why it even matters to people what is or isn't considered canon. New writers can easily just choose to ignore those eras without officially retconning them.
A π©·π€π positive article, with a good bump for @nionwomen.bsky.social in the process.
Love to see it.
I can't imagine Flux being novelised, at least not as one book, with it being so long, but would be interesting
Many stories from modern #DoctorWho have not yet received a novelisation. Which ones would you most like to see adapted? #BookSky #BookTube ππͺ

KKLAK!
The Doctor dodged to one side as the beak snapped next to his head with a loud kklak! He darted around the machine once more, trying to keep it between him and the screeching thing. The creature had positioned itself in the window directly above the stairwell, so there was no way he could get there without coming in range of that wickedly sharp beak.
Also I see you subtly referencing Invasion of the Dinosaurs there...
Not my first time reading this but it has a wonderfully moody, gothic horror opening, one of my favourite prologues from any book. If there's one thing Mike Tucker can do well it is atmosphere #DoctorWho ππͺ
if they announce more rtd1 guest stars for the xmas special i'm just done. i'm so done. they could even announce john simm and i'd feel dead inside about it.
I absolutely feel this
My first ever Big Finish story I believe was Terror Firma, but for the 8th Doctor I'd recommend Blood of the Daleks as the ideal jumping on point

I don't know, it would still feel very contrived and meaningless
The fact that Fear Her suddenly remembers at the last second it's supposed to be building to the finale, and has the Doctor mutter something vaguely ominous about "something in the air" and "a storm coming" is absolutely hilarious to me #DoctorWho
Remembering Terrance Dicks born this day in 1935. π #TerranceDicks #DoctorWho
Cover of Doctor Who: Valhalla of the domed city of Valhalla with the shadow of a claw all in an amber brown.
Valhalla by: Marc Platt: Thereβs a lot less Norse myth in this story than you might expect. Platt is going for melancholy with the Seventh Doctor near the end of his life, looking for a job where he can quietly disappear for a while but the city of Valhalla has problems. The story works best when
β’ Delivering single-sex spaces on the basis of biological sex, in NHS wards, schools, sport and everyday life by upholding the Equality Act and delivering clear instructions to public services on how to comply with their legal obligations to women and to trans people. β’ Keeping women's prisons for women, instructing the Scottish Prison Service to remove all biologically male prisoners from women's prisons within days of the election. β’ Recommit the NHS to delivering single sex wards on the basis of biological sex, and ensuring patients can request same sex provision wherever possible.
Scottish Labour manifesto is out, donβt vote for them
I know from practice (luckily not yet in a real life situation) how bloody hard work chest compressions are. If someone offers to assist, you let them!
Huh, the only book I could find was this novelisation "based on the screenplay" which seems to have been published around the same time. Unless the story is based on a different book?
I didn't realise until now there was a novelisation
My main memory of the film is the repeated shots of the rusty steel bridge that's been decaying for years with ominous music playing
There's a trade-off I think between having the opportunity to explore his character further, and it diminishing the impact of that first appearance somewhat, because as a one-off character he really works well and has a satisfying, complete arc
While Davros does get some good stories after Genesis, there's always part of me that wishes this is where his character ended. The perfect encapsulation of the self-destructive nature of fascism. #DoctorWho
