Perhaps stupidly, this week I'm working on a YouTube video to submit to "Monster Week: Fey" being hosted by DnDtubers PointyHat and GinniDi.

Can i make the art and the video in like 3 days?! Who knows?! Wish me luck!

I don't think this is done yet. I feel like there's something fun i can do with this piece. Let's see if something comes to me when i wake up.

I've been a regular/weekly ttrpg player for the last few years, and was a daily player in my late teens. And i have genuinely never felt as shitty walking into a session as i do for this one.

Pretty sure my CoC character is going to die in tonight's session. I'm genuinely upset about it.

Dying in service to the story is good. Death being totally arbitrary and out of left field after months of playing, so we don't even get to do the end, feels like shit.

Don't even feel like playing.

Love your first one there. There's something wonderful about a gloomy beach shot.

I don't know if it's great, or art, but it's certainly stuff I made! Thanks for the artshare.

I suppose I should also mention for #portfolioday that I'm starting a #howto art channel, coming later this spring. So, if you like my art, and want to see how I do some of it, go subscribe over at youtube.com/@swandsdd?si...

I also really enjoy making faux-covers for books that don't exist. I do these with #3dart and #compositing or #photobashing ... I spend a lot of time on title work when I do this. #portfolioday #bookcover

But, sometimes, I also like to play with 3D in different ways. Not everything needs to be photorealistic. Sometimes, I just want to make other interesting #digitalart #portfolioday

I tend to focus a lot on light, color, and textures both in-render and during post. I like doing full body shots and head shots of interesting characters. #3dart #fantasyart #portfolioday

My name is John Lam and I am a 3D Artist. I do a lot of what I like to call #virtualphotography. I set up models, a scene, hair, costume, make-up, etc. I take some photos with a virtual camera. And I do a lot of post-work. #Daz3d #Affinity

Here are some of my pieces:

You are a new #Adventurer. You learn Minor Illusion. You cast an illusion of a Displacer Beast. Does the illusion look like the actual creature? Or does it look the way you *think* a Displacer Beast looks, because you've only seen them in art by artists who'd only heard described?

The horrific inaccuracy of animals the #artist had heard described, but had never actually seen. So, how would artists in D&D, who had heard a Displacer Beast described (a large cat for easy comparison), but had never seen one, depict it in art?

To take it a step further: /2

Question: #DnD is typically Medieval European #Fantasy. So, no cameras. Just hand made art. Art would be the way that most people would have ever seen monsters depicted, having no real world experience with them.

Consider the way that foreign creatures are depicted in old European Art. /1

Updating Rowan as well. This one feels very 90s to me. Like she's definitely into Kurt Cobain and Vampire the Masquerade. #fantasyart #oc #3dart #daz3d

I'm currently redoing all of my #OC folks in #Daz3d ... this is a very low-res test of a couple outfits put together for Bracken. I'll be doing a lot of worldbuilding art on my channel later this spring, so there's a lot of testing going on right now. Thought I'd share this one. #3dart #fantasyart

It was 80 degrees yesterday and today it's snowing. Totally normal. Just a completely normal thing to happen.

Saw a dude post an AI piece with the caption "some people create, others criticize" and the irony almost fucking killed me.

Watched a video yesterday where a dude tested comparing his multi-hundred dollar green screen setup against a $1 green table cloth from Dollar Tree ... And found almost no difference in the output.

So i appreciate the cheap ideas!

Does anyone own a green screen that they'd recommend? One that isn't "omg, how much?!?"? I'll mostly be using it to put myself into my art sometimes for stupid jokes.

Rewatching old favorite shows is weird. Like, oh shit, this episode of Highlander introduces Methos, the oldest immortal! He's 5,000!! How exciting! And half the fucking epIsode is Richie joining a French motorcross team.

You cannot convince me anyone gave a fuck about this.

Keep watching the dumbest mother fuckers on the planet Earth accuse a woman of using AI in her videos because they don't know what a green screen is.

Visual effects exist, bros, wtf?!

Hard agree on the muscle memory thing, even just from the previous versions. There are changes that don't really make any sense, for any practical reason, that keep throwing me off.

And I've been using Designer since V1 and i still can't tell you wtf the point of an art board is, really.
