Seen tonight on Hannah’s bedtime walk tonight, a crescent moon with Venus (I think) shining overhead.
This image shows St. Mary's Church and the adjacent Almshouses in the village of South Dalton, East Yorkshire. The Grade I listed St. Mary's Church was designed by architect J. L. Pearson and features a prominent spire that is over 200 feet high. The scene is located in the East Riding of Yorkshire, a rural area run by the Dalton Estate.
The South Dalton Estate Almshouses, on Main Street in the East Riding village, were built in 1873 by Beaumont Hotham, 3rd Baron Hotham. Designed in a Tudor style, they form a group of cottages with a stone chapel. They stand beside St Mary’s Church, also commissioned by Lord Hotham and

Broken record here, but we cannot fix, save, improve, renew or whatever English universities if we only attend to taught students, DfE and OfS. Universities are major engines of research, innovation and civic good. Minimally DSIT must also be centrally in the frame.
They're not big schools.
A fresco showing a man in a white toga standing behind a counter piled with round loaves of bread, reaching out to hand bread to two adult men and a child in front of him.
Campaigning in Roman times: For #FrescoFriday a painting from Pompeii that was long believed to show the sale of bread. It's thought now to be the free distribution of bread ahead of an election by a politician in a white toga.

The interior of the octagon tower of Ely Cathedral, with a forest of thick wooden beams and wood panelling.
Inside the incredible Octagon Tower of Ely Cathedral for #Woodensday. Constructed after the collapse of the cathedral's central tower in 1322, it took eighteen years to complete and is seen as a masterpiece of medieval engineering.
A great Easter break visit to Château d'Angers to see the incredible Apocalypse Tapestries depicting the events of the Book of Revelation! Originally commissioned by Louis I, Duke of Anjou, the tapestries were woven in Paris between 1377 and 1382! 😇😈🧵
One way or another, this country is going to learn that accommodating white supremacist ideology will destroy this country. It did so once before and is doing so again.
Is this country really prepared to allow our military to be DESTROYED by racism & sexism. Are we watching this like a TV show?
Learning Amharic is humbling. The last spoken language I worked on seriously was Norwegian and back then I started to get the sense I'd cracked this language-learning thing, but it turns out that was just because Norwegian (a language I love) is (no offence to Norwegians) the Duplo of languages
