I tend towards MOHO in my work though I am aware other models are available and mixing models is fine - we can drop models, we’re at the service of the client not the model. But MOHO has lots of scope to talk about motivation, the environment sustaining or constraining us, and the lived body.

Improvement in quality of life was only possible for some with support + psychosocial activities. "This was because the amount of free time on their hands meant that they became bored, isolated, and needed help in finding meaningful #occupation to prevent relapse."

Looking for a way to boost your health?
While doing chores may not have come to mind first, they are a great way to promote your health. Everyday tasks like vacuuming, washing dishes, folding laundry, or watering plants can:
Increase physical activity,
Build cognitive skills like motor planning, organization, and following directions,
Reduce stress by creating a cleaner, calmer space,
Strengthen independence and self-esteem,
Support sensory regulation through movement and proprioceptive input.
In the article linked below, Katie Frank, PhD, OTR/L, our occupational therapist, shares more information about how doing chores can promote our health and overall well-being. She also provides examples of chores that individuals can do to achieve their specific health promotion goals.

We bring far more to social care than equipment & adaptations.

Amy Howard explores the role of OTs in Care Act assessments, prevention & early intervention & how this supports personalised care & allows people to do the occupations they want & need to do

Lots to reflect on in the closing session at #WFOT2026 about the future of the profession - key takeaways for my practice:

- Equipping our #SalfordUniOT graduates with entrepreneurship and leadership skills is key
- We need to encourage and support students to make global networks whilst studying
