As if my #ASH24 FOMO wasn't enough already, they go and do this!

The dynamics of hematopoiesis over the human lifespan - Nature Methods This Resource presents an atlas classifying the age-related changes in human hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells from gestation through aging.

Just in time for #ASH24, our latest paper is out. We performed scRNA-seq on HSPCs over human development, maturation, and postnatal aging. We looked at dynamics of HSPC subsets, lineage biases, HSC level priming, and identified a developmentally restricted human HSC.

(6/7)...In fact - young non-canonical (nc)MkPs do come from HSCs, but not directly, yet may bypass other myeloid progenitors. #Aged HSCs can directly give rise to ncMkPs (as we have previously shown), but not in a clonally-restricted fashion...

(5/7)...we find a rare yet unique population of these MkPs in young mice 🤯. Others have suggested this too, but we find some unique functions and challenge the current ideas of their onteogeny....
