Day 17: How do you choose your next WIP?
I am a mood writer, so I choose the kind of story I can't stop thinking about. There are a few more set on Knyadrea π
Cover for Togther is a Distant Star, A sci-fi and fantasy anthology on Belonging The cover shows two hands, each with half a star, as they reach toward each other to piece it together. The background is many warm colors, orange and reds and purples, lovingly created by Coe (C.B. Lansdell), and has elements of skulls, a tree, clouds, a dragonfly, stars, and a pendant
Coming May 19th! A scifi/fantasy anthology featuring 11 authors from 6 continents (we were, unfortunately, unable to find either an Antarctic researcher or a penguin to join us)
Together is a Distant Star contains stories of "belonging" mostly by women, queer, and otherwise marginalized authors.
ICYMI: Together Is A Distant Star is an anthology filled with stories by wonderful indie authors. With the theme of belonging and a diverse group of authors, it's hurt to hit home

Thank you for spreading the word, and all your other contributions behind the scenes π«Ά
And we have Steve to thank for the gorgeously poetic title (which we elaborate on in the acknowledgements)! π
Thank you, Diane. I got a lot of creative direction from the other authors on the project, so I think that pushed it to be even better than what I could have come up with on my own.
This animation is just so neat so here's the cover reveal ONE MORE TIME π€©π€©

Your occasional reminder that I have a sci-fantasy duology that will soon be complete.
If you enjoy a dual pov story that builds slow, has some new terms for alien concepts, rewards attention to detail, and features a cast of semi-aquatic characters, start reading Book 1 now π
I'm also lucky if I make $12 off D2D each year. That's not a small amount, and the threshold of $100 is too high. Also, why is it that society protects the money of the people who make a lot of it, but takes the little others have?
Thank you for the recommendation βΊοΈ

Day 14: How would your characters describe themselves
O: I'm a wonderful conversationalist, obviously, rather good at problem solving, and I make a dashing dance partner.
P: Please leave me in peace.
*A while later*
If you really must know...(offloads).
Gorgeous boy!
Axly from E.L. Lyons' Starlight Jewel. Roots growing out of her in a wooden barrel.
Prismer in her mask and Oklas. My two non-human characters from the Apidecca Duology.
Cork, with his hair in a plait and tattoos on his arms. Holding a big axe.
Aubrey and Lark outside a tavern. Tartan clothes and a stormy sky.
Hello #PortfolioDay! π
I am Coe, an author an illustrator. Here are some of the fantasy artworks I've painted for authors in the past year.

...and often follow the adult characters in these regions. Or in the case of Prismer's prequel story, I'd like chapters to alternate between past and present, and feature a wider array of characters.

Day 13: MCs' childhoods
I touch on this in the main duology, but my prequel novelette(s) share more. These stories are less about the MCs' childhoods in themselves, and more about the contexts they're coming from. They provide an avenue to expand stories into their home clans...
Hey everyone! Today I'm reviewing the first Indie book I've read this year, as part of my attempt to read as many indie books as possible.
Far Removed by @cblansdell.bsky.social is a science-fiction/fantasy book set on the aquatic moon of Knyadrea. It is also an entrant to spfbo11!
#indieauthors
My most recent "release" was a short story that went out to my newsletter (but it will be available on retailers next week, so I hope that counts!)
The cover art is by CB Lansdell @cblansdell.bsky.social
Survivor is a prequel story to Wraith and the Revolution (and yes, there's more squid π
)
I know I am biased, but I really got invested in Kye's test here (even though I knew the outcome from Wraith). I still have to read the last newsletter instalment, but I may wait until the release to read it!
I cannot wait for you all to see what the Belonging anthology has for you!
Cover reveal in 3 days!
