Leo is stood holding a stone axe in his hands. He is wearing orange hi-vis and a white hard hat.
The pyre ahead of excavation. It looks like a dark brown roughly rectangular splodge, in contrast to the yellow sand around it. It is covered by a grid made of stringlines and a tape measure is running across its length.
George is kneeling in front of a partially excavated cremation urn in the ground. He is wearing orange hi-vis, a white hard hat and has brown short curly hair with a beard, smiling at the camera.
The #OCAArchTeam working down at Sizewell C have revealed what is potentially a prehistoric funeral pyre, providing a remarkable glimpse into the life - and death - of Suffolk's early inhabitants.

Government to lift paywall from large parts of the Land Registry
Exclusive: finding out who owns land will become simpler under plans to make the best use of green spaces and hit net zero targets
VICTORY! Government to open up the Land Registry - bringing to an end a thousand years of secrecy shrouding who owns England.
I’ve been campaigning for this for ten years: the new Land Use Framework, published later today, makes it government policy. 1/

Has anybody done any work calculating the height of burial mounds from ring ditch dimensions where a mound no longer exists? #archaeology #burialmounds

Rob Grant RIP. Legend. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard as at the reveal at the end of the "Queeg" Red Dwarf episode.

This has been flooded for quite some time but the trees still stand. Reminds me that the inundation and the die off may have lasted a generation or a lifetime. Slow but continuous and perhaps too swift for some. #thefens

Land reclaimed from the river. Flooded salt marsh and a line dying off trees in the distance.
Doing a tidal survey and a part of salmarsh has been purposefully reflooded. My photo is poor but you can see a line of trees dying off in the distance. Reminds me of a very specific archaeological horizon in the fens below the Fen clays where we see marked tree die off.

My Polish partners family are all vets and doctors and pharmacists but there's also a strong line of musicians, entertainers and artists. Her parents house is full of art by family or traded art by friends and neighbours. Anyway, here's one of my favourites they let us have. #winterolympics

Stills from the most recent @timeteam.bsky.social on the princely burials at Cherrington (Glos.) which included a woman, relic-box hanging from her waist, beside a young boy with an adult's sword; eloquently presented by the ever-fabulous @helengeake.bsky.social.

Sizewell princely cemetery reveals more Anglo-Saxon secrets
"Fancy grave goods" were found with a princely burial, but other finds are also amazing experts.
📰 "Princely" Anglo-Saxon grave in Suffolk contains two people alongside a horse. Grave goods such as a sword, spear, silver vessel and more indicate it was a high-status burial with possible links to Sutton Hoo.

Sizewell princely cemetery reveals more Anglo-Saxon secrets
www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... a bit more detail on our excavations of the Early Medieval barrow cemetery out at Sizewell. Nice bit of detail on our barrow surrounded by posts, think a medieval sea henge, and Chris Ferns reconstruction sketch of what we think it looked like.

I don’t want to worry anyone but Digging for Britain has just said that the largest UK archaeological dig is currently taking place a stone’s throw from where MR James set A Warning to the Curious.
