I’ve caught up on #DrawingDiggingforBritain with my final drawing of a Roman sword chape. Thank you @richardosgood.bsky.social for facilitating this annual creative outlet again. I plan to keep my pens and paints out now rather than put them away for another 12 months.

Artefacts including stone hand tool and Roman swords.
Nearly missed tonight's #DrawingDiggingForBritain - fascinated by the analysis that showed that a stone hand tool was used for grinding tin.

Oooh! New archaeological illustration drop at #DrawingDiggingForBritain!!
I’ve now caught up on last night’s #DrawingDiggingforBritain and decided to draw the stone anchor found in the River Wear while @toriherridge.bsky.social was filming.
Artefacts including malted grain, a ring cairn, whetstone
With malted grain and a barrel hoop from the oldest whisky maker in the world, today's #DrawingDiggingForBritain had a bit of a theme going on!
A drawing of a bronze Pictish pin head with decorative elements
This gorgeous Pictish pin was found at East Lomond Hill, Fife by a team from @uniofaberdeen.bsky.social - a fabulous site and discovery shown on #diggingforbritain with @profaliceroberts.bsky.social tonight. A birthday offering for #drawingdiggingforbritain #archaeology #picts #scotland
Sketch of a piece of amber with indentation decoration
Think I might be busy tonight doing other stuff for my birthday so am pre-loading my #drawingdiggingforbritain efforts starting with the beautiful piece of amber found by @jimleary.bsky.social & his team at Skipsea - magical: petrified fire I think! All on #diggingforbritain tonight #archaeology
Watercolour of section of pale yellow bone on left, wtih two holes drilled in the centre. To the right is a copper alloy (pale blue/green) brooch with a central curved pin and thinner sharp wire that would have pierced the cloth, attached to a cross bar of wire twisted around and covered by more slightly-decorated copper alloy.

Roman brooch & Roman/early med(?) whistle.
For #drawingdiggingforbritain and #diggingforbritain, I eschewed the bone box & went for these finds from Broadway.
@richardosgood.bsky.social @saocousins.bsky.social @holnicotenh.bsky.social @andykaitken.bsky.social @stevecobbin.bsky.social
I definitely didn’t do this lovely little bone box justice this evening, at least in part because I could barely take my eyes off the screen when it was opened. I hope there will be analysis of the ‘mud’ inside to see if an ointment can be identified. #DrawingDiggingforBritain
#drawing 4827 bone box #DrawingDiggingForBritain #adrawingaday #artyear #thedailysketch
Artefacts including sword and bone box
#DrawingDiggingForBritain I gasped when they slid the Roman bone box lid open. I could imagine the Roman lady or her servant using the ointment that was thought to be inside.
A drawing of a Roman box found in a cemetery near Worcester with circular decorations all over it
This charming box excavated at Broadway by Worcester Archaeology - @explorethepast from a Roman cemetery featured in #diggingforbritain tonight - my offering for #drawingdiggingforbritain #archaeology #roman

Not so much #DrawingDiggingForBritain as photoshopping #DiggingForBritain
Drawings of iron Carnyx, boards head; Wooden ladder, stone kiln etc.
So much to see in tonight's #DrawingDiggingForBritain - Athough the Carnyx and Boar's head standard were magnificent, my favourite find was the wooden ladder at Sizewell.
I had a bit of a disaster while #DrawingDiggingforBritain this evening when one of my pens leaked everywhere. Thankfully it narrowly missed last week’s drawing. I loved the cross-Channel connections that this little coin represented.
A sketch of a bronze Roman brooch with the pin pointing down to the lower right corner
Where to start with the Sizewell excavations by @cotswoldarch.bsky.social on #diggingforbritain tonight? So many cool features, deposits and finds excavated and present by my mate Rosanna. I kind of liked this brooch #drawingdiggingforbritain #archaeology
Check this out!! #drawingdiggingforbritain
