Just a humble robin, taken in my local south London park. This was a rare occasion with wildlife when I held back from using the full zoom.

Thank you! It was a very dull cloudy day so it was an issue balancing shutter speed and noise.

Kestrel, Hampton Court Park, London.
It did a dozen hunting swoops from low perch to long grass in the 45 minutes I was watching it, but this is the only sequence I managed to keep in frame and in focus.

Kestrel, Hampton Court Park, London.
Only the 3rd time I'd seen one and I got to spend nearly 45 minutes following it from perch to perch as it hunted in the long grass.

On another day that would definitely have described the heron, but I was actually referring to the stance needed to get this angle ๐Ÿ˜‚ I didn't check for nettles because it's winter, but they're already growing back.

One toe in the stream, the other knee in a patch of nettles! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Grey heron and little egret. Not rare to see them near each other but, after taking thousands of photos of both over the years, this is my best composition with both together so far.
600mm(cropped); 1/200s; ISO 6400; f45 (still couldn't get both in focus). South London

Little egret, paddling in a puddle as
the stream was too deep for fishing after the rain.

I usually prefer my perching-bird pics to have a clear background and minimum of foreground twigs, but I really like this one despite it being on the cluttered side.

Closest I've seen our local kingfisher get to a little egret - normally the KF loiters in the branches above the egret when they're both fishing the same spot. #birds #kingfishers

Had my camera repaired recently so I missed the start of the kingfisher season, but first day out with it and I found our regular local showing off her curves ;-)

Such a gorgeous, healthy fox in my local south London park. Maybe a squint in one eye, but then they were looking into the sun. Love the traffic lights background.

He actually accepted my refusal with surprising grace, and seemed happy just to have a nibble at my friend's homemade bean stew instead :-)

How can you tell? I think the orange on the lower bill is fading slightly since I first saw it, but I didn't get a clear picture then.

Probably a male juvenile kingfisher, from my local South London Park. There was a mating pair here last summer so it's nice to think this is their offspring but no way of being sure.
Cloudy, 1/200s;800mm;f10;ISO2500 Removed a couple of twigs in CS5.

Barn swallow, Skomer Island, Wales.
Tried and failed (many times) to get a good photo midair but was happy when this one settled for a few seconds close to the hide.
