I had a great chat recently with fellow substackers Catherine Knight and @mikejoyecologist.bsky.social about the upcoming Reality of Everything conference, and the issue of food security. This is open to all. #nzpol open.substack.com/pub/thekaka/...
“It's been World War III since 2001 at least (over 5 million dead and 40 million fleeing), a genocidal war focused on exterminating Muslims, with multiple invasions and side quests to invade ‘commies’ on sheer muscle memory…”

got a couple of these ourselves - this is *literally* what the FSU, TPU and Batchelor did with three waters and anti-Maaori sentiment in the lead up to the 2023 election, and it was almost only covered from that angle by... @1of200.bsky.social

By the way, this is Boyd’s Harvard contact Nowak that recommended him to Epstein.
With a research centre called … PED…

Yeah 😖
Not for nothing but we reaaaaally shouldn't be listening to what a noted creep has to say about other creeps. Ask any young woman in the nz lit scene who to avoid. The whisper network is LOUD.
This is the bipartisan institution of US political economic elites.
What do you mean, dems love him 😜 All those photos of Clinton Obama bush trump slapping each other on the back and having a good old laugh together. Same class of people.
is there any reasonable person out there who still wants to go into bat and defend NZ mainstream media? *Particularly* the editorial?
This stuff is really sick, and NZ newsrooms are having a good old laugh about it.
What the fuck is wrong with everyone in these institutions? Cowards *at best*?
🥴
NZ media are just lapping this up as if it were run-of-the-mill celebrity gossip & Boyd is their kiwi on the inside.
Rather than calling out the lack of ethics or basic due diligence by an academic of supposed high standing and instead of exposing the really really bad stuff in the Epstein files…
“Shocked to discover his name there” - when another article said he’d been anticipating it…could we have some consistency at least?
This guy is a Fellow of RSNZ and received their prestigious Rutherford Medal in 2020 (worth $100K) for "preeminent research, scholarship or innovation".
This is what "merit-based" appointments serve up. Absolutely shameful. I'm not sure I've ever seen such a bad interview.
"Rejecting Board of Peace right decision but no excuse for NZ to disengage on Palestine"

Since Pinker has been brought to NZ by the FSU, local reporters could ask what the "Great Fun" he was having with Epstein on April 4 2014, as mentioned in an Epstein email to Bill Gates (2014 isn't a "This person and their crimes is a mystery to me" time, as it is many years after the 2007 case)
There’s also emails planning a get together, then confirming a breakfast appointment for JE & BB

From: Brian Boyd <b.boyd@auckland.ac.nz> To: Jeffrey Epstein <jeevacation@gmail.com> Subject: Re: Date: Mon, 09 Jul 2012 22:25:35 +0000 Hi Jeffrey, No, nothing looming: I'm hunkering down to do the Popper biography, which will require another trip to Europe (although the bulk of the research travel I did some time ago) but not for quite some time. You suggested a while back we should work out the details of the money transfer. Can we go back over things, first? When you asked me how long I would need to write the book on Lolita that's the top of my wish list, I said a year. You asked me how much money would that take. Being naturally antigrabbity, I said $50K, thinking not that that's a year's salary (you assumed from that that I was maybe still an associate professor) but that that's the 25% of my salary that the Faculty of Arts pays (the rest comes from the University center) and that covers my teaching courses (I have a reduced teaching load in any case). You promptly said that's not enough and counterproposed $75K. But the more I think about it, the more I realize how much else other than the undergraduate teaching encroaches on my time: the admin (not bad at all for someone at my level, but still an interference), the supervision of PhD and sometimes other graduate students. To do the book in a year I'd really need to take a full year of unpaid leave and be free of all university obligations here. So that's just for you to reflect on; I'm very appreciative of what you've already offered, and that should indeed allow me to buy out of all my undergraduate teaching. Anyway, whatever you decide, here are my bank details: Bank: Bank of New Zealand Branch: Auckland Store, 80 Queen Street, Auckland 1010
