As a proud UC grad (UC Davis), I know @UCLA is a global leader in research, innovation, education, and healthcare. A $1B federal demand would devastate the nation’s top public research university, cut off life-saving care, and halt economic growth. #StandUpForUC ucal.us/standupforuc
Very excited to share that I’ve been awarded a SIAM student paper prize! I look forward to seeing any of you who will be at #SIAMAN25 in Montréal. Thanks to the committee for selecting me for this honor www.siam.org/publications...
Those recommended for NSF funding are now asked to sign statements that they won't do any "DEI" nor boycott groups with ties to Israel. Love seeing Williams College pushing back on these fascist tactics!

This year, HMC fielded 12 teams that successfully completed the four-day, online MCM/ICM. For the last 30 years the contest has brought together teams from around the world to create solutions to multidisciplinary, complex problems. Read more about all participating HMC teams at uqr.to/hmc-mcm.
Reminder: first WebMDS event Tuesday, May 6 at 9 am PT! Join us for a panel on “Teaching the Mathematics of Data Science”!

HMC mathematics professor @arvm.bsky.social has co-authored a paper on polynomial properties in polyhedral geometry. Read the full article about Vindas Meléndez's paper on the behavior of local h-polynomials on our news page. uqr.to/hmc-arvm.
Profs. @haydeelindo.bsky.social, @jamiehadd.bsky.social & Talithia Williams share the Institute for Data Science and Social Impact, which will foster interdisciplinary collaboration, advance data science research, & create pathways to apply data-informed methods to real-world issues. uqr.to/iap-dssi
SIAM has announced the 2025 fellows and we are happy that among them there are the six member of SIAG/DATA
David Gleich, Lior Horesh, Youssef Marzouk, Jonathan Mattingly, Stefan M. Wild, Mohammed J. Zaki
Congratulations!

On Sat held our first (hopefully) annual Datathon under our Data Science for Social Impact initiative. Two amazing speakers then a data visualization competition on a dataset derived from the World Bank Millennium Development Goals Databank. We had students from Harvey Mudd, CMC, Pitzer and Pomona!!
Gain valuable mentoring experience and grow your network within the UChicago data science ecosystem by supporting our 2025 Data Science for Social Impact Summer Experience!
Priority application review for open roles begins Monday, March 31st

Thanks David!! Very appreciative to my community for the support that made this possible 😊
HMC mathematics professor @jamiehadd.bsky.social has been awarded a CAREER grant from the NSF. The grant supports Haddock's desire to be a mentor and increase access in data science for groups that have been historically excluded from research mathematics. uqr.to/haddock-career.
