It’s rare that I wish I had watched the movie first, but as much as I loved it, I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I’d gone in blind.

Project Hail Mary -
It was indeed a better movie than book!
I’m kind of shell-shocked by how the narrative was handled. My favorite part of the novel was reduced to a 20-minute, breakneck intro, while the sections that dragged on the page absolutely soared on screen and made the runtime fly by.

Project Hail Mary was an enjoyable read, but where Weir’s overexplaining felt grounded in The Martian, here I found my attention drifting as we got deeper into theoretical issues with fictional particles & tools that don’t exist.
Still, it’s a great story, & that gives me high hopes for the movie.

It’s in that tumultuous period that we see her reservedness morph into a justified rage toward her mother, alongside manipulating her otaku classmate.
Watching her shift from comforting and encouraging him to fostering his violent urges, and even pushing him to go further, was genuinely upsetting.

Well, I got what I asked for; a deeper dive into KAngel’s life outside of her stream.
Seeing her watch her vaporwave alter ego explain the meaning behind her song while she reflects on her troubled family life and time in school was phenomenal.

These two are so fun together!
I’m curious about their motives, since they helped aid the village but also seemed perfectly fine abandoning it to keep Yuru from the invaders.
Having such likable characters on both sides bodes incredibly well and is probably the strongest comparison to FMA so far!

This was so frickin’ cute!
Especially Akane’s “Probably yes!” and her blush when she got thanked.
The whole show really rides on her being likable, and she absolutely delivers!

But more than that, not getting huge waves of laughter really stung.

How did you tailor your act to get laughs out of them?

These episodes have flown by, & I think it’s largely due to the performances. I love how we get to hear Akane’s inner monologue during her act & see her struggle when she’s not getting the reactions she’s wants. It creates an immersive experience that really puts you in her shoes & locks you in.

This was a sweet scene showing what Akane’s mom thinks about her performing. It seems like her dad is supportive as well, but not seeing him after the time skip has me curious about when we’ll see him again, and what he thinks about Akane following in his footsteps.

Oh man, seeing the panic in Emilia’s eyes when she couldn’t stop the needle meant for Subaru was gut-wrenching.
Seeing how much Subaru means to those around him really drives home the person he’s become, and it makes me so excited for the possibility of Rem awakening and seeing it for herself.
