And my mother died of COVID before vaccines were available. I can’t stand hearing anyone minimize the terrible toll we suffered.

News: Federal funding restored for University of Colorado work at NOAA Global Monitoring Lab And taking a look at how unusual the severe weather over the upper Midwest over the last week has been

(Good) news: NOAA funding for Univ. of Colorado scientists working for Global Monitoring Lab was released last week, preventing furloughs and allowing atmospheric monitoring work to continue. I also take a look at how unusual the severe wx in the upper Midwest has been. tinyurl.com/2n57tcm7

Surprise severe weather event causes significant tornado damage south of Kansas City Monday Event raises questions again about missing NWS upper air data. Meanwhile, Typhoon Sinlaku pummels Northern Mariana Islands as it slowly turns north.

Tornadoes surprised areas near KC Mon, raising questions again about NWS upper air obs. I discuss the ongoing issues (thanks to @alaskawx.bsky.social for info from there) and why NWS needs to formally study how the state of their upper air program is affecting forecast services. tinyurl.com/7np9f3fc

this is why there’s been mass revolt and opposition to data centers being built in communities. it is genuinely a health hazard to live this close to something emitting this much sound. these need to stop being built

One carve out I would suggest is the national centers. I’m much more familiar with SPC than others; it’s a home for those who want to primarily forecast and research severe convection. I’ll need to ask around about how these centers change in the reorg; maybe administrative, rather than mission 🤷‍♀️

I’m a co-radical on this one and his phrasing is 😡
Stating that the “problem” is with the 15-19 year olds! His assessment of why is plausible and to be welcomed. And yes, get it to zero for so many reasons.

Michigan-based water advocacy group decries cuts to federal programs protecting the Great Lakes • Michigan Advance Michigan-based water advocacy group decries cuts to federal programs protecting the Great Lakes

The natural world is essential to human survival. Clean air, clean water and food production not to minimize mental health. This budget proposal is horrific 🌊🌊

If there is one quote that this sublime image exudes in today's times, I harken back to this:

"There is perhaps no better a demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world."

Trump Administration continues to push forward with desired cuts to NSF Announced at all-hands meeting on Friday the disbanding of its Social, Behavioral and Economic Science directorate

I know there's a lot of sh!t going on in the world, but my expertise is in the weather enterprise - so I am going to keep at it...

The administration is continuing to find ways to implement its vision for agencies like NSF, in spite of what Congress says.

Fun fact 👇

2 weeks ago 3 1 0 0

Trump keeps insisting that the JCPOA struck by Obama -- which as you can see here, dropped Iran's uranium stockpile down to nothing -- actually set Iran up as *more* of a threat, when it was his foolish decision to scrap it in his first term that did that.

This is 100% a crisis of his creation.

Newly Obtained Video of Minneapolis Shooting Undermines ICE Account

Remember when DHS agents had no choice but to shoot two Venezuelan men because the men had attacked them with a snow shovel and a broomstick?

New video shows they were lying about that one, too.
