Just wish I had an appropriate class to use them in, but maybe...

Awww, thank you. I'm glad you think it is useful, and congrats on winning the ShortPub category.
Feel free to use the (admittedly crappy) category icon if you wish!
All excellent pedagogical ideas! There is the limitation of course that it is not necessarily representative and that we do not screen for quality. Part of your Take 5, Pick 1 idea would presumably be considering such a quality, with then a discussion of why they think that makes something 'better'.
Thank you for every vote! I am really happy that Sappho Digital turned out to be the first runner-up in the category »DH Dataset or Model« of the Digital Humanities Awards 2025! I’d like to use this moment to introduce the project a bit more – so here’s a short thread 🧵
And yet some American commentators seem to feel it is too diverse. 😂
Congratulations! Feel free to use the (slightly crappy, sorry) icon if you want.
You are right that the whole point is really to get more people to see more DH resources than they would have otherwise.
PoeTree is a second runner up in DH Awards 2025! very grateful to be there alongside amazing Sappho Digital by @luntner.bsky.social and the winner -- beautiful History of Internet in Columbia project historiasinternet.uniandes.edu.co
Yeah, some years I have filtered those out. Most voters don't bother filling in the optional questions.
(maybe they are bots)
It has been going since 2012. I'm used to it. They often seemed confused by the concept of gender on the entirely*optional* demographic question and want to complain about that.
(c.f. the responses to some questions thread I've just put on the original post.)
- No, there is a difference between gender identity and biological sex, but you don't have to answer that question if you don't want to.
- Lots of nominators/voters had compliments, thank you for those.
- Some voters had rude things to say, I mean, why bother?
Hope that answers some questions!
- I'm not sure how it is relevant that you still think Trump will improve the USA.
- I wish we could include more work 'about persian language' but we rely on the public for the nominations.
- Ranked voting or Single Transferable Vote is an good idea, but currently not easy in Google Forms
- No, the competition is not run by 'stupid woke lefty women'. Indeed, I, for example, am not three of those things.
- No, we won't limit it to only have american sites.
- We don't do the nominations, you do. So when you say it is too anglo-biased, then nominate more non-anglo resources next year.
- ¿Quieren imágenes de portada e información para redes sociales para cada publicación breve y recurso? Eso suena a que requeriría mucho tiempo y trabajo, ¡y es un proyecto voluntario!
- We have no resource to help preserve the cultural heritage of Afghanistan in particular, though we wish we did.
- You want a dataset of all the DH Awards information over all the years? I did compile something like that for a presentation a few years ago, I should update it sometime in my copious spare time.
- No, I do not wish to die currently, sorry. [There are always some...]
- No, we don't want to buy your software for doing this.
- You want short abstracts, but only for the candidates not in English? Sounds like a lot of work! Also, resources can have the link go to a page explaining it (in multiple languages) if they wished.
- You want us (me most likely) produce a short video about each of the resources?! I barely have time to do this as it is!
- You want us to provide short paragraph abstract of each resource? But others say the slate is already too long and has too many to look through? Also, would we write this?!
- If you want to know who established it, and how it is run, that is all documented on the nominations committee page and FAQs page.
- Yes, you are allowed to self-nominate, stop feeling so guilty about it.
To answer some of the questions nominators or voters raise:
- we specifically don't have a category for whole books, partly because they are often inaccessible to voters, but also too long for voters to assess in any meaningful way.
Glad that it is useful!
Just being clear, though of the insults it receives (in amongst much more praise), that one is at least unique so far.
Thank you. I think the majority of voters agree with you, though some seem to submit a vote just to put rude protests in the comments section.
A word cloud of voters professions.
We gather optional demographic and other aggregate statistics in the process which we make available here:

Congrats to all the winners, thank you to all the voters.
The results for #DH Awards 2025 are now live. Sorry if your favoured resource did not win in this openly nominated, openly voted #DigitalHumanities awareness activity. There's no real prize (winners may use the associated icon), other than everyone seeing the resources.

🚨My what3words storytelling game Pin the Tale has been nominated here for an award! 🚨It's purely determined by public vote, so would be hugely grateful if you could vote for Pin the Tale in the last category of this form (do check out + vote in the other categories too if you can!)
Ok crafty friends of #DHmakes, whether or not you have anything to do with digital humanities, kindly take a moment and fill out this form to vote for #DHmakes in the annual DH Awards! Please and thank you! 🧶 🧵
Less than a handful of days left to encourage people to vote for your favoured resource...
We don't report on irregularities, just statistics, see previous years. As per FAQs, if people vote twice we take their last vote, if they vote more than that we delete all their votes. There are a handful of other things we check, but this is a fun awareness-raising activity with no real prizes.
