My first ever #woodcarving project! ᒥᐢᑕᐳᐢ ᒍᐞᐍᑯᑐᐤ Jackrabbit whistle! I'm very proud that it turned out so well. I'm gonna make a matching one of a sharp shinned hawk some day

The work week begins, and I suppose I should return to work on my thesis. Or, perhaps, I could continue my all time streak of naps?

Assignment is done, further #knitting complete, just another two inches before I start turning the heel on these socks, and I sketched out the #woodcarving for a wooden whistle with a little jackrabbit on the front. Just need to dig out my bit brace from the tool trunk.

Currently #knitting some socks, today is set aside for my final assignment and tending to my sweetgrass and sprouting corn and squash, and if I'm really well behaved (read: don't feel too sick) I might do some #woodcarving

Yesterday I got to see a stellar Jay, a red wine blackbird, a house Finch, a bunch of mallards and robins on a little walk. Also I got to hear the cacophonous racket of crows beginning to nest. Weighs out to be an excellent bird experience

Colloquium presentation done! I got through half my notes, went two minutes over, and got four full room laughs. Good questions after, too. As soon as I get home it is time to turn into sludge and sleep for 15 hours.

Every single Indigenous person I know is warning folks about this but the rising chorus of "you need to put YOUR issues (they are Canada's issues, fuckasses) on the backburner it's all hands on deck" is overwhelming. Funny - when do Canadians have to put their shit on the backburner for us?

My research, without giving too much away and doxxing myself, is about #2spirit connection and relation to the land, and our roles in our communities. I'm very excited to present on it but also very nervous! Wish me luck and a receptive crowd!
