This was a beautiful event, and I am happy to see Friends and Families for Safe Streets begin memorialising pedestrians taken too soon by traffic violence. They are planning more of these and could use your support and presence.

1/ I just called Ford AGAIN.

I led with Ford's decision to imperil kids by removing speed cameras in school zones WHEN car speed is a known risk for SEVERE pedestrian injury

Risk of severe injury:

37 km/hr = 25%
50 km/hr = 50%
63 km/hr = 75%

Gigi was vivacious and had so much more life to live. She walked everywhere, and was well known and loved in the neighbourhood, creating community on her several daily walks. Gigi was struck and killed by a pickup truck driver on March 21, 2026. Her family and community are devastated.

Matt Elliott: Toronto police are doing less — but asking for more money. Why is Olivia Chow determined to give them what they want? At Tuesday’s budget meeting, city councillors will debate the mayor’s 2026 spending plan, which includes a $94-million boost for the Toronto Police Service.

My @thestar.com column: With Toronto cops facing a huge corruption scandal, it should be impossible for Mayor Olivia Chow and Toronto council to just rubber-stamp yet another big police budget increase today.

The job of police reform is not done. Not by a longshot.

Breaking news. Absent local councillor still doesn't give a shit. Vote them out, term limits, whatever. Get this loser out of here.

The state of the already terrifying sidewalk on Parkside drive. Fuck me I guess? Nothing can be done.

I fought for safer Toronto streets after my friend was killed five years ago. Now Doug Ford is undoing that work Premier Doug Ford and Transportation Minister Prabmeet Singh Sarkaria are actively dismantling the very infrastructure that so many of us fought to put in place.

"The Ford govt is escalating its retreat from road safety. Bill 60, building on Bill 212 and championed by Sarkaria, would prohibit municipalities from reallocating vehicle lanes towards safer, more complete streets...These are choices that deliberately increase risk"

It’s the big day! The appeal hearing @cycletoronto.bsky.social’s successful Bill 212 case is being heard at Ontario’s Court of Appeal. Time permitting I’ll try and live post the proceedings, like I did for the Ottawa convey injunctions back when #lawtwitter was a thing.

Toronto recorded fewest traffic-related deaths in a decade in 2025: city data | CBC News Numbers show 39 people died on Toronto's roads last year, half as many as when the city launched its road safety plan a decade ago. But some wonder if the number will go back up with speed cameras now...

"Jess S, a road safety advocate w/ @ffsafestreets.bsky.social, said she’s worried traffic safety around schools, where most cameras were installed, could suffer in 2026.“You're putting children at risk. I cannot wrap my mind around any rationale for something like that" 1/ www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Having a transportation system that results in violent death is not normal. This is a policy failure. This is all 100% preventable.

The members of FFSS are battered, we are bruised, we are broken, we are bone-deep exhausted, and we will NEVER stop fighting until this senseless violence is ended.

My friend was hit in a crosswalk last week in #WalkTO - he is OK but went to hospital & has a concussion 🤕

I checked data... Turns out left turns account for 26% of injuries caused by collisions - pedestrian's had right of way in 24% of cases. So drivers are the problem! @ffsafestreets.bsky.social
