Polenta Incatenata — Domenica Cooks

made this for dinner tonight and it was very easy and very delicious (be sure to top with lots of parm and olive oil) if you are the kind of person who likes things with a porridge-like texture. my kids, surprisingly, loved it. www.domenicacooks.com/blog/2018/11...

This is my hand-printed linocut portrait of chemistry trailblazer Marie-Anne Paulze Lavoisier (20 January 1758 – 10 February 1836), wife and collaborator of French scientist Antoine Lavoisier (26 August 1743 – 8 May 1794). The prints are 9.25” x 12.5” and are printed on ivory Japanese kozo paper. She is shown seated at a table with various glassware they used and writing with a quill. The print is in a gradient of gold, turquoise and pale blue on ivory paper.

Delicate beauty can be found in strange and unusual places. In the quiet look, the gentle whisper, the hug that says a thousand words. If you look for it, you will almost always find it...

As described, my linocut shows two Adélie penguins (Pygoscelis adeliae). They are hand printed in black ink with a hint of orange on white Japanese kozo (or mulberry) paper. Each print is 12.5" by 9.25" (31.8 cm by 23.5cm).

Adélie penguins for PenguinAwarenessDay ! ⠀

This handsome couple are Adélie penguins (Pygoscelis adeliae), common to all the Antarctic coasts. Adélie penguins are the most widely spread and southernly penguins (along with the Emperor penguins).⠀

WIP Painting of a nebula with a lot of stars

WIP Painting of a nebula with a lot of stars

About 90 minutes today. The stars in the blue are mostly done. Need to add some "dust" diffusion in some areas. Then cleanup some of the lower areas & adding more stars in that area. (but not too many)

Btw.. this is available.

Closeup of a beige bird on a branch with snow falling around and on it, including a star shaped flake on its head

It was a beautiful snowy day today. Lots of birds hung out in the yard and stuffed themselves with seeds from the feeders and also from the plants.

Composer Ernest Chausson was born on this day in 1855. Here's a movement of his Concerto in D major for piano, violin and string quartet op.21. II. Sicilienne. It was composed between 1888 and 1891, the piece was requested from Belgian violinist Eugène Ysaÿe.
