A black and red book cover. A creature with tentacles, a pointed hat, and yellow facial feature dominates the cover but envelops a stout, scared-looking feminine figure. Grey chains frame the image in a diamond. Text reads: Someone You Can Build a Nest In - John Wiswell.

A predominantly blue book cover, with the silhouettes of 7 figures walking across uneven ground. Text on the cover reads Mary Robinette Kowal - The Calculating Stars - A Lady Astronaut Novel. (A blurb reads “An alternate history of space flight that reminds me of everything I loved about Hidden Figures.” - Cady Coleman, Astronaut)

We’re rolling out our @lystour.com pattern reveal over the next few days… first up, this year’s literary inspiration! I read both of these last year and was really touched by them. Our knitting pattern is called Calculated Stars, and our crochet pattern is called Something You Can Snuggle Up In.

Sneak peek alert! This is a close up of our crochet pattern for the upcoming Puget Sound LYS Tour!

Designed for us by the delightful Positively Yarnie, it calls for two contrasting colors in a worsted weight yarn and uses several intermediate stitches!

We are pretty in love with it!😍

Sneak peek #2! Our knit design for this years Puget Sound LYS Tour is a gorgeous bit of colorwork designed by Lisa Ellis.

It’s another stunner and calls for two, contrasting, worsted weight colors and has several options to choose from!

I hope you’ll love it as much as I do!

That absolutely counts as a WIP!! As long as it's "in progress" no matter what stage - it counts! 🧶

Two event-branded bags are standing under a growing bright green hosta plant in a mulched garden bed. Both bags feature a green image on a natural canvas background: a WA State Ferry is centered on the image, flanked by tall pine trees and a large mountain - Tahoma - in the background. On the large bag, a moon rises behind the mountain and a large ball of yarn is placed in the near foreground. On the small bag, the ball of yarn is placed behind the mountain to represent the moon. Both bags read “Puget Sound LYS Tour 2025.” The large bag has dark green sides and handles. The small bag has a dark green bottom and a zippered top.

If you are in the neighborhood and just want to hang and knit or crochet at the table, we welcome you to do so. Just be prepared to have one of us start inquiring about your project!

We cannot say how much we LOVE our awesome community of crafters that truly are the bones behind our shop. 4/4

One of our favorite events here at Acorn Street Shop is hosting Pop-up shops with Local Dyers. We are fortunate to have so many talented dyers in our area & every time we host a dyer & their yarn spreads across the center of the shop, we cannot resist squishing it and marveling at the colors. 3/4

Our shop thrives on being a safe and welcoming space for all to enjoy. This common interest with fiber crafts has opened doors for many friendships that perhaps may not have otherwise crossed each other's paths. It is truly heartwarming and exciting to experience, and we get to talk about yarn! 2/4

Wrapping up our Shop Spotlights is Acorn Street Shop. It's hard to believe that this little shop has been around for 35 years. Mary and Janet took over ownership nearly 7 years ago and they never cease to have fun playing with yarn. 1/4

Our shop location gave us a space to gather, share, and learn with others, and provided a market for artisans to sell their wares. We’ve moved twice since that phone call nearly 14 years ago, and much has changed. Through it all, we have remained ‘A Crafting Community, crafting community.’ 4/4

Why? Even before we had a physical location, Bazaar Girls existed as a way of honoring the creative forces in all of us by permitting ourselves to take the time to be crafty. 3/4

We added a little spark and a lot of love, and with the help of our ever-evolving community, we have transformed it into the inspirational hub we now know as Bazaar Girls Yarn Shop & Fiber Emporium. 2/4

Next up in Shop Spotlights is Fidalgo Artisan Yarn & Clothing - a boutique yarn shop specializing in premium hand-dyed yarns, carefully selected commercial yarns and specialty and handmade garments. We don’t use the word “artisan” lightly - the shop is filled with our own, owner-dyed luxury yarns.

Five rooms on the main floor are divided by yarn weight; the basement annex houses a large clearance section & an incredible array of markdowns. At the front counter, you’ll find needles, notions, & handy tools. We encourage you to wander the labyrinth, and lose yourself in a woolly wonderland. 3/3

We feature many lines from Cascade, Lana Grossa, Trendsetter but the star attraction is the massive selection of Malabrigo. Great Yarns has an extensive display of models in both knit and crochet....you can see and touch the yarns as finished projects. 2/3
