I feel it is something of a catch 22. New public transport takes time and lots of upfront money. In the meantime Herts is struggling to deliver roads that meet the needs of residents in the short term, think pot holes, actual resurfacing, safety improvements. I don't envy @kirstytm.bsky.social

I am less optimistic about unitary Councils, They will, at least in East Herts all still be very short of money to do anything ambitious around transport and sustainable travel. They might get Central Govt support for something they might not.
It seems to have worked fairly well in London where the Mayor has control of a lot of transport but not all. It will be interesting to see how things go in Manchester now the Mayor has more control of the buses.
Is not part of the issue that in the UK Local Government is not taken seriously and has relatively limited authority. Lots of the levers of power are either really held in Westminster or scattered across a bunch of entities.
Ah a man of the people.
Or at least the people who pay him.

Every time this tailor posts a photo of their workspace, it looks like their dog is a tailor and he's showing off the garments he made.

A picture of a rather dilapidated copy of "The picture of Dorian Gray" There is visible water damage to the cover and the plastic cover is yellowing. Obviously, not evident from the picture but there is a truly foul musty smell emanating from it!
Last week, a gentleman returned this rather dilapidated copy of this famous book to us after 50 years. He had found it in his attic!
Presumably this means there is a pristine copy somewhere in our libraries....
This really is the only answer. Our dependence on fossil fuels must end. For our planet, and for our society.

In the same manifesto, Palantir's owners argued that we need a national military draft, that soft power is over, and that we were too hard on Germany and Japan after World War II. I don't think that company should be allowed to exist anymore.
And still nothing happened.

As an author & multi-genre reader, I know not every genre is for everyone.
Some can’t handle murder in the news, let alone in thrillers. Some want romance, not details. Some find real life scary & avoid horror. Others escape into fantasy.
Find your audience. They’re out there.

I worked at a Citroën dealer around this time. Sales of the Xantia were, at least in the UK, something of a disappointment certainly to fleets who were wary of French innovation, ane were such a big part of the market here.

You'd probably guessed that anyway. The Census report, like most such surveys, had cost an awful lot of money and didn't tell anybody anything they didn't already know — except that every single person in the Galaxy had 2.4 legs and owned a hyena.
This seems appropriate...
