A stack of hand knits on the lap of a person sitting in a car. The bottom layer is a cabled sweater, still in several pieces, one sleeve on the needles, in a tweedy dark red yarn. On top of that is a mostly finished raspberry colored baby sweater with a lacy raglan detail.

And this, friends, is why we bring at least 3 projects on vacation. I finished the baby sweater 2 hours into a 4 hour drive, then switched to the cabled sweater, and ran out of usable yarn at hour 3. I rested my hands instead of working on my socks, but it was comforting to know they were there.

An unfinished raspberry colored hand knit baby sweater, draped across an orange and white cat. The sweater is the Norwegian Fir pattern by Oge Knitwear Designs, and the yarn is Cascade 220 Superwash in Razzleberry Heather. The body of the sweater is complete, and a person's hand is holding up the almost complete right sleeve of the sweater. The cat is sleeping soundly.

Me and my knitting buddy working on a baby sweater. It's the teens' first time watching the Dune movies so we have the lights turned down low for the full cinematic experience. I love that my kids have turned out to be the type of people who watch a great movie, and immediately ask for the book.

Wooden Loom Preserved By Fire 3,500 Years Ago Now Reveals Bronze Age Textile Revolution A wooden loom that survived a devastating fire 3,500 years ago has revealed key aspects of the Bronze Age textile revolution. Most of the weights as well as components made from wood and plant fibers remained remarkably intact despite the blaze that burned down a settlement near Villena in present day Spain. An unfolded Musselburgh hat dangling from a person's hand. The hat resembles a very long tube with a dome at each end, and the yarn created varying width stripes in shades of lavender, navy, and pale muted green, the colors sometimes solid, sometimes marled. In the background is a large bright window and an old fashioned wooden spinning wheel.

The same hat folded into a hat shape. Assembled, the hat is double thickness on top with a deep, quadruple thickness cuff. The hat is again held up by one corner, and in the background is a staircase, a black grand piano, and a bright yellow and white couch.

Our washer broke, so while I am stuck at the laundromat without my knitting (yes, it's as horrible as it sounds), I'll share the handspun Musselburgh that I finished this weekend. This is a merino silk blend, dyed by @wonderlanddyeworks.bsky.social and spun as a 2 ply fractal. 🧶 #spinning #knitsky

Spring cleaning, yarn edition. I have been long overdue in organizing all of my chaos, and have found 4 active WIPs, 2 inactive WIPs, 1 untouched kit, 7 stray skeins of yarn, 1 freezer bag of scraps, 4 sets of DPNs, 1 circular needle, 1 crochet hook, and 7 empty project bags. 🧶

I inadvertently bought the yarn from my tattoo! My youngest picked this out online for a gift for his teacher, but I am charmed by the coincidence and might have to buy more to keep for myself. #knitting #yarn

On to sleeves! The cable panel is much simpler than the body, so hopefully this visit to sleeve island will be brief. The Botanist by @theacolman.bsky.social in @purlsoho.bsky.social Hedgerow. #knitting #knitsky 🧶

We feed our cats Blue Diamond Wilderness dry food. I don't know how much is luck or genetics vs. good quality food, but our last cat lived to 21 and was pretty healthy and spry right up to the end - hope we get just as much time with Amos!

I know exactly what newly released popular pattern you are talking about because I had the same thought! The stripes match across both sleeves and the body... That's not scrappy use-what-you-got spontaneity, that takes serious planning!

Snowy day ply-back test! I didn't spin or knit much for the last few months, due to the holidays and school and video games and, of course, The Horrors™, but today's spinning guild meeting brought a little bit of my mojo back. Now to pull out the drum carder and prep more of this Romney!

Three crocheted koroks, small forest spirits from Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The one on the left is swirled blue and brown and has a medium sized, heart shaped green leaf mask. The center korok is swirled pink and burnt orange, has a four-lobed leaf mask in a darker green, and is holding one arm up in a jaunty wave. The right-most korok is swirled peach and brown, and has a yellow, pale green, and bright orange mask shaped somewhat like a maple leaf. Each mask has a suggestion of a face embroidered in black and the korok's nose sticking out of its center.

It took a little longer than a single day, but the koroks are finished! This pattern, while thorough, was a doozy and I will happily never make another. Now back to my winter activity of leveling alts in WoW...

The kitten is orange with black stripes, their wings are green with black borders and mauve dots, and the ball of yarn is also mauve.

A little late but almost relevant, my tiger/kitten/fairy/yarn tattoo! This tattoo makes me so happy every time I see it (stupid winter requiring stupid long sleeves) and really lets everyone know I have a weird obsession with cats and yarn.

Three incomplete crocheted korok amigurumi on a blue-jeaned lap. The one on the right is pink and orange swirled, the one in the middle is pink and brown, and on the left is blue and brown. The middle one has a yellow, green, and orange leaf mask with several trailing yarn tails sitting on top of it, and a person's hand is holding a green leaf mask in place on the leftmost korok. In the background are a small pair of red scissors, a yellow-handled crochet hook, and a chopstick for pushing stuffing into small areas. Ya ha!

Helper cat never misses his chance to supervise sewing! I'm making dopp bags for my team at work and really feeling the loss of physical sewing stores since I can't run out for any notions I might be missing. I may add one more bag into the assembly line if I can find some nice scraps in my stash.

I get it, cat-kind has a reputation of dignity and refinement to uphold, and wearing a pumpkin hat could be seen as a serious setback in that regard. I hope the good Admiral can accept my apology for subjecting his brethren to such disrespect!
